raiders washed goat

Post by donovan »

as it was a warm sunny day in the UK today ,i took a few pics of my wested washed goat-its a ' off the rack ' rola (no inside facings) ,size 44. i purchased this about twelve months ago,and only wear it now and again but the hide distresses easily . it is a raiders but because of the pattern its quite snug in the chest and upper arms ,which when worn has the 'feel' of the TOD jacket (if that makes sense).

I"ve been thikning about getting a wested goat. I've got Todd's lamb and US Wings cow. I've read that the goat hold up better than lamb and yet it's still light. The cow is too heavy for summer, so I'm wondering if the goat is lightweight enough. The Todd's is great (and lightweight) but it's a little snug. I'm looking for something that drapes well and is light. Is goat the answer?

IMO Goat is a heavy jacket. I wouldn't wear mine in the summer months.

Depends on where your summer is ;)

I have a wested goatskin and I am very impressed with this hide. I'd had jackets in cowhide and lamb... and from now on goat is my hide of choice: though and strong but lightweight.

But, even being lightweight (more than cowhide) is not as the lamb. If you had a lambskin jacket you will feel the difference, goat is slighty heavier. It can be worn in summer yes but as Nick said, depends where the summer is. Coastal summers, high humidity is not gonna be possible. Dry summers with cold breezes is quite possible.

cheers

living in the UK our weather can be very unpredictable, sunshine one minute, rain the next.i find the washed goat an ideal hide for this weather as its somewhere inbetween a heavy/light weight jacket . and washed goat what a great leather for that distressed ,beaten up look- mine justs gets better looking every day ! :D

I sold my washed goat to general frosty and think that it is the first jacket I have ever sold off then missed GREATLY! So much so that I bought one off of Tomek and it should get here Monday.
I love the leather, the fit, and the weight of the one I had so I'm really hoping this new one will be just like it. Funny thing is, I am all about the Raiders look and the washed goat I had was really all wrong for the Raiders vibe for my tastes and yet, I really just all around liked that jacket. So I felt that even though all my gear is Raiders related, I had to have this particular leather in my corral.
