List,
I'm going to buy my first whip and am try to find that magic combination between price, indy likeness, and quality.
I've pretty much narrowed it down to the Keppler whip and this one by Mark Allen:

What do the sages here think is the best bet?
Will one be easier to use than the other?
I'm also somewhat in a rush so i don't know if I'll have the time to wait for the keppler.
Thanks!
Chad

Nice Whip, but I'd reccomend the Keppler. The Latigo's are sturdy (from what I've heard) but they don't have much resemblence to Indy's. They don't have the loop on the butt and they have that rubber, or whatever it is handle. -IJ

I would agree with getting a Keppler and not the swivel handeled bullwhip.
I guess, the question is how accurate do you want the whip to look? The Keppler would look the most accurate in that price range.

Not sure what your price limit is, but have you considered the 8 foot Budget Indy from ECwhips? $140

(I'm not trying to take business away from Lee, but since you said you're going to buy your first whip and are trying to find "that magic combination between price, indy likeness, and quality.") If the $140 is a bit too steep, then I would say the Keppler is your better choice (in comparison to the WSP one you linked us to above).

If you take Allens swivel handle whip you have to trim it very well to make it work good.
I am sorry to say quality of these latigo whips lately has not been as good as it was when I first did get known to them...
But with good trimming you get it
work but not very fancy moves especially if you are beginner with whipcracking.
And as you know it is not Indy style even close...
I have wrapped the rubber handle with leather so thats not a big problem.
In fact my opinion is that all beginners should have very good whip to start with...
When you do not have to "fight" with your whip to get it crack and it works nice and smooth,
it is all up to yourself if you learn to crack the whip or not...
At least you would know it and cant blame your whip...
Good luck!
