Well, it has been some time since I have been on the forum. Just read there was a problem with BIOC going out of business and or the P3 model is no longer made. What is the scoop? TRUE, FALSE? What are the alternatives?

...And a mighty fine pair of specs they are. Search under "Berkshire Chase" for more than you would probably like to know.

The overall frame shape is close, and you would want the nose pads, but the biggest difference is the fact that the original BOIC's (and the Berkshire Chase model as well) are covered with a tortoise shell coating completely around the actual lens frames, as well as about 2/3 of the way along the temples. Again, I defer to archived posts (unless they've been lost in the accidental thread dumps), mainly the work of our good friend Pyroxene. He's done Indygear a great good hunting down the most accurate substitutes in the wake of BOIC going out of business. Good luck!

Yep, that's what happened! My bad! Serves me right for being so ravenous about reading through threads. Now those are the ones I was talking about (and have happily owned for nearly a year now!). Pricey? A bit, but they're accurate, stylish, and well-constructed (considering they're mainly wire). Be sure to get yourself a good durable storage case for when they're tucked into your Mark VII bag (the middle right or left compartment provides a nice fit!); you may even be able to find an actual vintage case that fits.... Enjoy!

If you buy them from Framesdirect.com they send you a heavy duty storage case. These are pretty durable, btw, so far I've worn them 5 months and have minimal bending even with my 1.5 year old daughter trying to grab them all the time, lol.
