Hey guys,

does anyone have their hat? How is it? Right now its 79$....pretty good price....and it comes bashed raiders style...

There are a couple threads on this if you do a basic search.

Also, do a search on youtube or here for indyclone25's (did I get the number part right?) videos of Todd's products. He has a lot of video reviews of various products that Todd carries.

You just put it on and it instantly transforms you into Indy (Raiders style).

Awesome, yeah from the pictures I've seen on this forum and websites, it's pretty good for the price. I have a Christy's adventurer and i'm trying to mold it into a raiders style fedora...but it just doesnt hahaha...or maybe I'm doing something wrong lol? Either way, the downtowner has the shape I want...and it comes pre-bashed! The only thing i'm really curious about is the stifness of the felt I keep hearing about...is that a concern at all? is this hat re-blockable?

If it is in the shape you want, you would not want to reblock it, as it already is in the shape of the SoC fedora. It is stiff, but like all new hats, best thing to do is just to wear it.

I have a new uptowner that I'd let go for $100 if anyone is interested.

My Downtowner has lossened up a bit and it is perfect!
So dont worry about the stiffness of it! it does soften up.

When I first got my hat, I thought OMG! THAT IS STIFF!!!. LOL
However after wearing it for 3 months,
it has softened up exactly to how felt shoul be.
I give Todd's Downtowner a 100% bill of health

Awesome, it's good to hear that Todd makes good hats

Do you have any pictures of your hat? I've seen some pictures other people have posted up, it seems some of the pictures show a significant taper of the crown...or maybe it was just the angle?

It's the angles.

It's a great hat, especially for the price, but remember it is a costume piece. If you get it SOAKING wet, it can and will taper...but that's the only way really it will loose it's shape.

For $80 for a neatly shaped SOC inspired hat, it's not a bad deal at all.

re-blocking would help no?

I ordered one a few months ago, but ended up sending it back because it was way too tapered for my liking. it was also really stiff, but that's not a huge problem as I'm sure it would have loosened up over time.

You got any pictures of your downtowner? There was only one picture i saw that it had taper...the rest of the pictures people posted were relatively taper-free...

i have the new downtowner priced at $79.95, it was bought for my son's 15th birthday and i love it , i am going to buy one for myself (which will make make my second downtowner,)

I also just bought the Downtowner but mine doesn't look like the pics at all. I was hoping for something with a larger crown and no taper. Don't get me wrong, still think it's a great hat, and I have nothing but great things to say about Todd's customer service. That, and it's just a shade too big for me too. Tried reducing tape but it's still too big.
Either way, I thought it was a great buy for the money. I love mine and now just have to find a way to make it work.

Well TK, I think you're going to have to show us some pictures so we can give our input too.

Who knows, someone around here might have some good tips on what you can do to make it right.

What size did you get by the way?

59 cm is what I thought would fit after returning the 57 cm I originally ordered that was too small (probably should have gone with a 58). It fits on my noggin but it's a little loose. I tried the hat reducing tape also from Todd's site, but I really wasn't excited with the way it felt on my head afterward.
On a side note, I was outside today during a major downpour in northern MN and it got soaked. I figure "Indy wouldn't worry about getting his hat wet", right? I have already noticed that this has knocked A BUNCH of the stiffness out of it. Now it's nice and floppy. I also tried putting a slight curl on the rear brim along with slightly tightening the pinch. We'll see how well this works. I'll try and put up some pics after it totally dries and I can survey the damage.
