My first US Wings ( Vintage Cowhide, i think )

Post by atkins »

Hi guys, i've been a lurker for too long because haven't got anything to share , i'm just absorbing any knowledge i could find, thank you Club Obi wan!

So here's the latest purchase of Indy related items ( i'm still in the jacket stage ;) )

I won this jacket from Ebay a while ago, don't have it yet to make a decent review on. This will be my second Indy jacket. This is a list of my thought of the jacket ( please correct me if i'm wrong ):

1. A Vintage Cowhide of old US Wings product size L.
2. Might be imported because i can't see any US flag on tab.
3. Looks dusty and perhaps mold-y but it's repairable with leather conditioner.
4.Wide looking collar that might be a good Last Crusade details which i seek in a jacket, although i'm not sure it has the correct angle to make it look pointy like the Smithsonian.
5. I hope the surface is smooth not grainy .

I'd love to read any of your comments on this jacket, especially from the owner of same type of leather.

High Regards,
Atkins

It's probably not imported. US Wings usually makes their stuff in the states - the Legend is a departure from the norm. I'd like to see some larger pictures of it, but I imagine it will darken up nicely with a little leather conditioner. Be sure to post some better pics once it arrives.

Woohoo it's here...

-It is Made in China,

The Leather
The cowhide looks dusty , but thicker (comparing from memory) with the Authentic Lamb Wested a while ago. On some spot ,the grain looks like very much like Novapelle, i'm starting to think that on screen LC jacket is cowhide or as Peter said thick lambskin. I like the drape of this jacket, very LC . The thickness of this leather will make it good for motorcycling jacket.

The Pattern
-It has the gap
-The collar looks awkward, with almost straight line from the collar stand.
-The pocket size is 6.75 x 8.25
-The lining is very comfortable dark orange satin.
-I'm 5'11,160lbs, and this Large Us Wings is big on me.

Atkins

This jacket looks a whole lot like the "Special Offer" jacket that they sold...what was it, 3 years ago, for $195? Maybe only 40-50 of these were made? But I didn't remember that orange colored liner on these jackets? Dave (DR U) sold his a few months ago, and could confirm or deny this. The Special Offer leather color and skin looks to be the same type of skin as this one that you are displaying. If I'm not mistaken, they were made in the Hong Kong factory...? Another identifying feature of the jacket was that the pockets are anchored maybe 2 1/2 to 3 inches from the zipper. Sold it about 6 mo. after I received it, so my memory is a little fuzzy on it...

Here was mine:

That leather looks alot like the leather used in the US made Antique Cowhide Legend. It looks eminently adventure worthy! Congrats!
