Last Crusade of a different color

Hey folks! I just received my 5th Penman! Although this one was not meant for me, but for my lovely fiancee Amanda! She has been wanting a fedora of her own ever since she first saw my modest collection. We discussed the things that she liked in the hats and what she wanted in hers. Knowing that her birthday was coming up, I decided it was time.
I told John Penman that I wanted to give her a sahara colored fedora in pure Beaver. She liked the Last Crusade style best so we went for that. After discussing with John about the ribbon, he decided to put on some very nice vintage ribbon from his personal stash.
Then the day came when it arrived. Even though this is the 5th hat I have received from John, and quite a few ABs and ABDs, and fully knowing that this hat wasn't even FOR me, I was still excited to open it up! My first reactions when I held it in my hands was I couldn't believe how SOFT it was! Out of EVERY SINGLE HAT I have ever owned, this is BY FAR the softest! I couldn't believe how floppy the brim was! And the ribbon! John was right- this ribbon is PERFECT for this hat! I am so glad he decided to use it.
When Amanda finally got a hold of this hat (after prying it away from me), the first thing she said was about how soft it was (it's REALLY soft!). She loves the thing to death, and she wanted to make sure that I thanked John for his terrific work! So THANKS JOHN!!!!
Enough talk. Here's some pics of my lovely lady sportin' her fine Penman!

Very nice, I've always liked the Last Crusade hat.
The color adjustment is a nice change of pace. Of course I have a Tawny Fawn Federation, so I also like lighter hats.

I think she looks better than you do in a fed!
Leave the fedora wearing to your better half and go back to wearing baseball caps everywhere.

Great choice on the Sahara color. It make her hair pop. She looks great in it. I hope she doesn't share my head size or that's one that Fox and I will have to snatch up too.

Looks as nice as the Sahara Adventurbilts Steve Delk made a year or so ago! Did you use the same ribbon, John?

Thank you everyone for your kind words. Always good to hear ( or should that be read) that people like what you are doing.
Bink,
hard to say if its the same ribbon. the photos are a little off on the color in Steve's thread. This is a vintage ribbon that Steve gave me. Was going to use it on a hat for myself but decided to use it on this hat for two reasons. I knew the color would work very well together with the felt and on her. She is so bloody cute and Nick is such a nice guy I wanted to do something special for them.

That is one of my favorite fedora/ribbon color combinations. Looks great with the jacket, too.

I think more women need to start wearing fedoras. It's a great look.

John,
Please reserve that beaver felt, in that same color, with the same ribbon, if you can. How do you think it will look on a cute blond?
The one you made for the lovely lady in this thread is magnificant and very cute, too.

I'm low on funds, do you accept first born children as payment?
Seriously though John, yours are my favorite LC hats, and this one is certainly no exception. I guess that's one more hat to save up for....

i have personally seen this hat. first, nick has a very lovely fiancee! they are just too perfect for each other. and this hat is one of the finest hats i have had the pleasure to hold. the feel of the felt comes very close to a couple of vintage (20's-40's) fedoras that i own in terms of softness. i want a penman like that of my own!
