Sigh. I want to whip.

Lousy November weather. LOUSY.
Winter is upon us up here in the Great White Northâ„¢, and November means rain and misery.
And all I want to do is get outside and WHIP.
It's supposed to be 10C on Saturday which is awesome. So nice and crisp. As long as the rain stays away.
I've added a 5th crack to the DeLongis Flash and am dying to try it more and get my wife to film it!

HEAR ME MOTHER NATURE? KEEP THE RAIN AWAYYYYYYYYYY.

Sigh.

Any chance you could get permission to use a local school gym during off hours to practice?

Luke,

Have you considered a nylon whip for the wet months?
If they get wet, simply just hang it up to dry when you're done.

Hey Luke! I know how you feel when the weather is lousy. It's a real bummer when you want to go out and crack your whip.

Can't wait to see how it looks when you add that fifth crack to the DeLongis Flash! From what you've told me, I think I understand how it looks. :)

I practice sometimes in my basement with my 10-footer. I've gotten very good at the forward flick as a result.

Michaelson, that is a good idea. We have a family friend who is in charge of all the janitors and the services for the local high schools. I should ask him if it's something he can arrange!

kwad, no nylon whip, but that is also something I've thought of and should jump at this winter!

I've tried a few forward flicks in the apartment but there's too much around to knock over or smash should a crack go astray :P

Definitely something to consider, but make sure you cover all your bases if you DO get permission, as the last thing you want is the local police showing up with guns drawn due to a frantic phone call from neighbors reporting gunfire heard at the local school.

That said, there have been several folks here who have reported getting access to local school gyms in the snow months to practice whip throwing, so it's based on past practice. :whip:

Luke,
Know what you mean about the weather, right now we have had so much rain, I doubt the ground will ever dry....

Nylon can be your best friend on this scenario, I used to say go buy a Karaka whip for just this use. They used to be pretty cheap, but in last six months or so, they have really gone up in prices so nylon would be a better choice.

Crack On! eventually.... :TOH:

Well, I've put out the request to use the local high school gym on Saturdays.

As for a nylon whip, could someone suggest a really good nylon Bullwhip?

Thanks very much for the suggestions guys! Going to go over the links and figure out what I'm doing.

On a related note I managed to get outside on Sunday for some practice.
Each time out I become more and more used to how the whip moves, especially when it's not within line of sight.
I'm able to think a crack ahead and how the crack I'm performing now can move into another crack and just what that crack might be.
