Hi all,
I would like to know your opinion about Todd's leather gun belt.
Anyone got one? How about the quality?
cheers

I have two. Both were bought as seconds on eBay.
And they're both extremely different. The first one I bought is too small for use as a weapon's belt, the second one is a tad too big but...
The first one is a lighter brown, it's a stiffer leather. The second has a richer coffee-like color. It's a more pliable, softer leather. Not sure why they're so different.
But again, they were both sold as-is as seconds.

I have one. I love it. The leather is superb and it looks the part. I bought another buckle set to use on another leather belt I have.
There are some photos of it posted in my thread of Todd's Holster and Gear Belt here (
viewtopic.php?f=16&t=44971) and also in Mitch's full gear thread (

I have one and I think it's pretty darn good. The leather is soft and pliable, like Baptiste said. Mine actually ran a bit small, but it still fits fine.

Thanks Noah,
I am considering buying a leather belt from Todd's, since the price is quite fair if compared to Wade Egan's... too expensive and overpriced in my opinion.
Just had a doubt about Todd's leather quality though and wanted to check it out. But it seems very good.
Also I will purchase Todd's web belt.

I have owned Todd's gun belt for over 2 years and have been very pleased with it. I would like to add to add that Wade's gun gun belt is much more SA than Todd's if that matters to you.

I've had both Todds and wades. Both are good. Todds is great value for money but wade's does feel nicer. Nicer leather and better looking buckles. Really depends on how much you want to spend

Thanks for the info guys.
I don't know if I am that crazy about SA. And judging by the pictures I wouldn't know there was a big difference.
I am concerned about quality of the leather yes. I like the colour of the Todd's also over the Wade. If Todd's has some quality, that's great, even if it's lower than Wade.
Well, decisions. Let's see...

So, with the softer leather, how does it do when you're packing heat? Does it sag?

hummm... good question!!!
I am almost certainly getting the Todd's... good quality, fair price, very very close SA...
I am not buying one for daily use... will place a leather pouch and a camera case (instead of the holster & gun
)

i have a todd's belt as well. i've had it for several years now and although it has not endured much use it is a very well made belt. it is very rigid and sturdy and will probably last a very long time. as far as screen accuracy i would have to go back and look at some pics, but the gun belt is one item that you don't pay so much attention to on screen and todd's belt is pretty darn close. the buckle is the most noticable aspect to the belt and todd's is right there. i suppose it all boils down to what your needs are. not everyone needs a top notch, highest quality leather, hand made, attention to every little detail, super whazoo indiana jones gun belt. i'm not saying wade egans belt is bad. it is a very high quality item and looks great. if the price is the issue, todd's belt will do just fine.

jlhampton,
Yes, I agree... it's only a belt. The buckle is the thing, I have a belt with a whip holder that I made it myself.
But still wanted the buckle and a softer leather... I don't really need a handmade, top notch as you said.
So, I'm purchasing only the belt and will attach the whip holder that I myself hand made it:

I have one and I like it. I actually use it as a regular belt when it is not being used as a weapons belt.

A question to my fellow members...
If I am a 32 inches sized pants, what size should I get for the webb belt and for the gun belt?
At Todd's they put the belts in 30"-32". So, should I get a 30-32" for the webb belt and 34-36" for the gun belt?
thanks

If it were me, I'd go with the 34-36" in the web belt and the 38-40" in the weapons belt. That way you know they'll be long enough and either is really easy to trim down.
One other word on Todd's belt. I really like mine, but it is not dyed on the backside. Not a problem except if you want a large amount of the belt dangling LC style, then the lighter colored back is really apparent.
You want a little extra length in the weapons belt, but really not that much. I think most people wear they're gun rig way too low. Especially in ROLA, Indy's holster is basically at his hip, not halfway down his thigh.
Having the holster and whip on there will tend to pull it down so I prefer to wear is LC style with the whip holder on both the web belt and gun belt. I also wear the gun belt CS style with it running in the opposite direction of the web belt. Makes it a lot easier to set up the whip holder like I've described.
Regards,
Indiana Jeff

HI Indiana Jeff,
Thanks you for your info. I think I will go measure my waist, and being 32"... will do as you said 34-36"/38-40".
I know the Todd's on one side is not dyed, I actually like it to be honest.
The gun belt I have currently I don't use it too loose, knowing (as you said) that the belt tends to go down because of the holster and whip.
What I do is to run the gun belt through one of the pants holders, where the web belt goes.... just one on my left, so the belt will bend to the right but not going down too much. This way keeps the belt from slipping down.
cheers mate

I've often been torn between the more SA and more expensive gear choices and some of the very reasonably priced offerings from Todd Coyle.
Most of the time, I was at the mercy of my bank account so some decisions were made to take advantage of Todd's great deals. Or sometimes I needed something fast and could not wait for custom stuff. However, the key components of the gear such as the fedora and shirt were splurged on.
Something like the gunbelt has to have a certain look - but overall, really does not BEG to be screen accurate - you should save that energy for something like the Fedora.
I am a proud owner of Todd's gunbelt and Raiders holster and absolutey am 100% satisfied with the quality and design and don't see myself wanting or needing to upgrade to another product.

I received my Todd's gun belt, web belt adn gloves.
The gun belt looks nice, soft and I think it's very close to SA (don't need actually 100% SA).
The web belt is just it, nice.
The gloves need distressing and aging of course.
cheers

Glad you like them - I don't see myself every having to spend more money on another belt.
