Am I just blind? - airsoft...

Post by deathscythe »

Am I just late to the game?
I just spent the last few hours looking through old threads here to find a place to buy an airsoft revolver for my Indy costume. I really like one that's been discussed in a few places: "HFC FBI Issue .38 Special Gas Airsoft Revolver Black," but it looks like that revolver is sold out everywhere! :( That pistol is close enough for me, because it looks the part enough, but will spend most of it's time inside the holster. I really like the price as well.

Could anyone point me in the right direction to find one of these?

Thanks,
-Alex

Instead of the airsoft, you can buy a rubber or resin prop revolver. Great for costuming or display, better than any airsoft in terms of legality.

I bought one the other day. Been meaning to post pictures. Not altogether accurate, but not bad...

google turns up a whole host of airsoft sites, but as a longtime airsofter, I guess I'll post some of the best links

www.airsoftgi.com
www.evike.com
www.shortyusa.com

internationally, search for ehobbyasia, gunnerairsoft. There's also redwolfarisoft.

Yeah - I looked through those sites, and couldn't find the one I was looking for - or found that it was sold out...
This is the pistol I'm looking for:

I know that weapon....and there lies the tale. I found it at an site overseas. I ordered it for $60, and was never notified that it had shipped. I waited a bit then found the same airsoft on ebay for $40, so I went ahead and bought it. Meanwhile, I filed a claim with Paypal, who returned my money. About a week later I got a really nice letter from US Customs, stating that they had confiscated my package, since it did not state that it contained a replica firearm. I could pay $500 bond and then go to court to try and recover it. Yeah, like that was going to happen. I received the one that I ordered and after some distressing, it looks pretty nice. I will post pics after the Summit next weekend.

Oh, I ordered the first airsoft mentioned in this thread before I found it wouldn't fit Todd's Raider's holster. I tried to see if it could be modified, but gave up on it. I still have it, but it is going to take new grips and a mod to the barrel before it looks more Indyish. I guess I could sell it here if anyone wanted to take a crack at it.

Oh, one last thing. We have a 99 cent type store in Garden Grove that has really good deals on airsofts...yeah, I know that sounds very unlike that kind of store. I bought a mauser airsoft for a friend for Christmas last year. She did an outstanding job of turning it in to a DL-44, Han Solo's sidearm from Star Wars. Anyway back to the story, I found an airsoft version of the military issue of the thompson submachine gun for $20, so of course I bought it....wouldn't you? Scale is pretty close to 1:1. A little wood filler and putty for the screw holes and a little touch up paint and some distressing and I will have a nice addition to my collection.

Anyway, 'nuff said. Good night.
