Jacket claimed to be worn by Harrison Ford...on eBay
Seller claims jacket was worn on the Vanity Fair cover shoot AND the first movie (so apparently, Tony worked for Peter way back then?).
And in case you didn't know, this jacket is RARE : )

Yeah, I doubt anything in that ad. The jacket is clearly a TN RAIDERS JACKET! The seller is full of it

this is so pathetic. the seller claims this jacket has been used in KOTSC and MAYBE also in Raiders.
I mean, if you are planning a fraud, gather some info first who is he trying to chisel?

Re: Jacket claimed to be worn by Harrison Ford...on eBay
Well, let's dissect this for a minute.
If you pull the possible connection to the 'first movie' out of the listing, it's interesting. Odd, but interesting.
There was a CS Vanity Fair cover, so maybe this WAS worn by Ford for that cover shoot. Moving forward using that premise, how in the world did Stan Winston get hold of it? He was a special effects master. Did Ford give it to him, or what? What did Winston have to do with the photo shoot? All the letter of provenance would prove that it came out of the Winston shop. I'm not aware of Winston having anything to do with CS.
Just as a note of reminded, "we" usually nuke these, as the rules state no ebay links from COW unless an auction belongs to the poster ....but I don't think anyone is going to be bidding on this one, so we're leaving it up for the time being.

Re: Jacket claimed to be worn by Harrison Ford...on eBay
The jacket on the auction has no snaps, but the CS jacket does have them. I can't see the Vanity Fair cover clearly enough on the auction picture to tell if in the cover shoot the jacket HF is wearing has snaps. That would tell us if there is a slim possibility that HF wore this jacket on that shoot.Michaelson wrote:Well, let's dissect this for a minute.

That is the cover in as high res as I could find. You can see a snap at the bottom of the jacket on the left side (HF's right side) and you can see the construction of the collar stand is not the same as the jacket being offered.

Re: Jacket claimed to be worn by Harrison Ford...on eBay
Unless you could get a COA form the man himself, it would not hold much weight. Like the guy trying to hawk his "screen used" whip on Pawn Stars. About all they could prove was that it might have been an after market whip bought by a stuntman, and may or may not have been used on the set...? Even then, there was some uncertainty. The PS was like, unless it was used by HF himself...?

True. A 'coa' is only as good as the paper it's written on, and whom it's from.
It would only prove it came from Stan Winston's studio, and not much more.
Thanks for popping in, _. I was wondering if this one would catch your eye, as you'd probably know of any Winston involvement with CS.

The sad part is it's a really really nice jacket.
Re: Jacket claimed to be worn by Harrison Ford...on eBay
Now that you mention it, I DID err in posting the link. I wasn't trying to promote the jacket, I simply thought the contradictory nature of the claims would provide for an interesting discussion.
Shall I remove the link? Leave it alone?

Re: Jacket claimed to be worn by Harrison Ford...on eBay
This auction has fraud written all over it.... I seriously doubt any of the jackets HF wore had TNO labels sewn in at the neck. The reference in the listing to an "I.J.1" jacket and "Tony's embroidery" leads me to conclude that the jacket is numbered and/or personalized in the lining, which the seller of course does not show. (As if any of the genuine KotCS jackets had script stitched into them... um, no.)
Obviously this is one of Tony's Raiders clones subject to some, uh, creative marketing.
Caveat emptor.

Re: Jacket claimed to be worn by Harrison Ford...on eBay
I'm happy to say I did know Stan and although I think this auction is questionable we must remember that aside from the smaller responsibilities Winston Studio's involvement was reasonably significant. The skull itself and the skeletons were designed and built practically at SW Studios and it was John Rosengrant who did most of the important visualisation of the 'look' of the skull itself._ wrote:Stan did have some work on the movie as a sub. I've not scoured the credits, but I'm pretty sure it was limited to digital work on backgrounds and some post-production clean-up. The ants were done at ILM.
I never met Stan - wish I had - but I know he was on-set at Paramount the only day I was there.
This was pretty much the last project Stan Worked on if memory serves and I guess its not unreasonable to think that this jacket (if used in the Leibowitz shoot) might have been passed onto the studio in recognition of the great man.
BTW, here's _'s avatar - I shot this Arnie at the studio:

Re: Jacket claimed to be worn by Harrison Ford...on eBay
According to Cinefex, Stan Winston Studio created the physical Crystal Skull prop and the alien skeletons, which were later digitally enhanced by ILM. They also provided the corpses and coffins seen in Orellana's cradle, Orellana's golden mask and the Area 51 alien. I believe it was also mentioned in the DVD's supplementals and in the Complete Making Of book._ wrote:Stan did have some work on the movie as a sub. I still don't see a connection between Winston Studio and the Vanity Fair shoot though. And, that jacket used in Raiders? Gimme a break...
Edit: Oops, Mark, I second that.

Excellent input, MARK! Thanks!
If it has that kind of actual provenance, one can only wonder why in the world they would add the Raiders connection to the mix.
It would stand well alone on its own merit, questionable or not, without that addition muddying the water.

Re: Jacket claimed to be worn by Harrison Ford...on eBay
That's just it... there's no way the jacket in the auction was worn in the photo shoot. It's a TN Raiders in shrunken lamb... such a jacket did not exist until well after KotCS came out in May of 2008. (The VF issue itself was published in January of 2008.)
Edited to add: News of a TN Raiders clone was broken in September of 2008... nine months after the VF cover came out. The photo shoot with HF and SL probably took place several months earlier, in late 2007. Simply put, there is no way the jacket in the auction was worn by HF while he was being photographed by Annie Leibowitz.

It's clearly a Raiders jacket in Shrunken lamb.
And at the time of CS, Tony didn't have reproduce the Raiders jacket.
It was done later, wasn't it ?

The plot thickens...
Here is a question I sent the seller:
Here is a question I sent the seller:
Here is the seller's response, word for word:Nice looking jacket. Can you please describe what you mean by "Tony's embroidery"? Is there anything stitched inside the jacket? Are there any photos of the inside pocket area and lining? Thanks.
Make of it what you will. I personally have no idea what to make of it, aside from what I've posted above to the effect that the jacket shown could not have been used in the VF photo shoot.Hello, I only have what info the seller gave me. This is from Riley, Tonys son and to the seller, a Legacy effects and ex winstons employee. He supplies s signed letter to back it as being from Tonys workshop and used in the V. Fair magazine shoot, Tonys son said he thought it may have been screen used because of the level of studio stressing to the jacket. The letter will go to the winning bidder. There is some small emroidery as Indies first jacket to the inside. We are informed from Tonys son, that Tony embroidered some of these pieces on their return to his workshops. Thank you.

Re: Jacket claimed to be worn by Harrison Ford...on eBay
Y'know even IF this had simply been an honest straightforward eBay Auction for one of Tony's (or Riley's) SL Raiders jackets (for a fair price), on top of eveything else there's also a pretty nice sized "slice" in the leather of the jackets left upper arm (about 2 inches down from the shoulder seam) that the Seller seems to have conveniently forgotten to mention (although they did take a photo that seems to highlight it... also weird)
Geeez, whattaya think is the record for MOST "warning signs" on an Auction that seems to congratulate itself for having all the right documentation?
Hmph!
"MAY HAVE BEEN USED IN THE FIRST INDIANA JONES MOVIE"
Yeah... I picture the Seller giggling to himself "and may NOT have been, too!" as he wrote that.

I've been looking through the feedback of this guy, and if he would be truthful about even half he sold, he practically sold half of Hollywood
The thing is, people seem to be pretty satisfied with their purchases from this guy. The list of props he sold tell me one thing though: conman.

Like people have said, if it was screen used, it would not have the fancy TN label, the embroidary, etc. This is an aftermarket TN Raiders, that someone must have ruffed up, before or after the fact?

If anyone's interested, I have used tissues Harrison Ford may have used to blow his nose during the filming of the Indiana Jones movies. The set includes four used tissues, one from each installment of the Indiana Jones franchise. I plan to put them up on eBay, but I'll offer them here first at a special buy it now price of only $10,000. A COA will be included, written on a fifth tissue.

this whole thing makes me shake my head and laugh out load and I get a familiar feeling from something that happend a few years back.. it would not surprise me if this is the same person I caught trying to fool me and show of his 'production/screen used' grail diary that was made by an ebay seller. I confronted him with that it and said it looks like the ebay diary but he denied everything and told me to go F myself and said it was screen used. so I contacted the seller I thought he had bought it from and asked if 'a' name was on his 'purcahse list' guess what?...lol...it was...stoopid.. He tried to fool everybody here too with his 'screen used' fedora...but not going back into that...
