Indy's 2nd Jacket?

When Marcus tells Indy, "They want you to go for it" and Indy starts to pack, he puts his jacket and whip in his suitcase out of this closet.



But when Marcus enters Indy's house, there's this jacket hanging up next to the door.



It doesn't look like a suit jacket to me.

Well, you'd imagine that tehperoduction designer would try to make Indy look like a real person so that along with furniture and ornaments on the set, they'd hang up some clothes too - a twead jacket, I think. If Indy were real surely he'd own several jackets like any other guy.

Good eye....maybe its that Nowak Jacket the guy put up on ebay claiming it was worn in Vanity Fair and possibly from "the first Indiana Jones movie"
seriously though my vote would be a tweed jacket but perhaps when the HD version comes out we can get a better look at it.

I got these two pictures right from theRaider.net.
If you view the picture bigger it looks more like a leather jacket than a suit/sport coat. The way the sleeves are hanging seem stiffer. Maybe blue ray will be the answer.

I always thought it was his sport coat, or tweed that he would throw on as he went out the door to the campus? The Last Crusade jacket was supposed to be a replacement of the Raiders jacket, after being shot & 'drug by a truck'.

No need for any special analysis or bluRay, guys. Put in the dvd, watch on a tv, not a computer. Do not pause it, don't zoom. Just watch the jacket the entire time. It is very clearly a suit style jacket, NOT leather, and far from "the Indy Jacket."

The problem is, if you zoom or freeze it, the image blurs. You have to just let it run normally.

OK, so, maybe there is a need for "special analysis."

Guys, I believe that the jacket in question is his suit jacket that he was wearing earlier and I'm pretty sure that you can distinctively see the three buttons on the sleeve.

Here is a picture from behind the scenes.


In the movie, after Indy lets Marcus in, you can see that Indy is wearing what you guys call an undershirt (a vest to us in the UK, which is weird because what you guys call a vest, we call a waistcoat). Therefore, it would most likely be that when Indy came home from work, he took off the vest and jacket and put hung them both up.

It's a bit of a necropost, I admit, but I don't want to be accused of not searching first. I just noticed this jacket and I'm firmly in the leather camp. (That doesn't sound quite right, accurate though it may be.) It's shinier than tweed; it looks to me like a very new lambskin jacket. Almost like a Todd's standard.

For what any of this is worth.
