I wouldn´t think he actually would hit them. Those are hunting dogs, a valuable commodity. Historically whips have been used to control animals, but rather through the sound the whip makes, not actually striking them. But then again who knows...

My grandfather supposedly trained wild horses with that method using a snake whip.
He was a real cowboy and would ride wild horses up from the U.S. into Saskatchewan and train them.
I wish I had known that while he was still alive so I could speak with him about that part of his life.

That dog video has had me laughing, that is a LOT of dogs and reminds me of the old Looney Toons episode with all the hunting dogs and Bugs :P

That was just amazing to watch. They had to be trained to the whip. They wanted to eat but stayed back with no overt lunging. Amazing.
