They are wet with sweat. Once they are dry, you cannot see them.

Hi all,
Just wanted to show you my distressed Todd's gloves. I can't change the zig-zag stitches, but it's a detail that does not matter to me.
I used some techniques to distress them since they were almost white. The first picture shows the gloves before I distressed them.
Here are the steps:
1. First I went to my balcony where dust has accumulated on the floor, and I rubbed the gloves to get dusty.
2. Dipped the gloves into a bowl with hot water and tea bags... to be honest it didn't make a lot of difference, very slight only.
3. Rubbed a rusted bar on both sides of the gloves, then I wore them and worked with the bar into the palms and other parts of the gloves.
4. used a mixed of dust and mud and after I got the gloves wet, I rubbed the mud onto them to take out the reddish spots of rust.
5. Put the gloves on the floor and threw again more mud and sand over it.
After 2 days, I took the excess of the dust out and voilá.... here it is.
What do you guys think? Any more work should be done?
regards
Teko

Probably time to start working
with them instead of
on them.

Mine arrived today. They are super clean and look like Michael Jackson's gloves.
Will follow your tips to get these looking like "Indy" gloves

I can't say this enough. I've been a member of COW for more then 10 years now - There's this incarnation and the version that came before - and I've said this more times than I care to count. More than "The Best Fedora I've Owned In More Than 20 Years." If you want your gear to look authentic, use it. Really use your gear. Where your fedora everywhere. Wear your coat when ever the weather will allow. Use your gloves while working outdoors. I even took a pair of my favorite gloves to the gym.
Most importantly, you'll enjoy it all more when you stop thinking about gear as a costume and treat it like your favorite real-world clothes.

Best glove distressing method...Dig post holes and bury fence posts. LOTS of them.

Yeah I was wondering that, too. Looked almost as if they were delaminating or something. Nothin' wrong with good ol' sweat!
I've been considering picking up a pair of these... thanks for the review, Bruce.

Rendering Fisk,
I have to agree with your thoughts on Indy gear for everyday use. I’m a civilian contractor in Afghanistan and wear Indy reminiscent gear every day. Most of the cloths I wear here are 5.11 brand. I already carry a W&G Mk VII bag and Linder knife. Presently I’m waiting on a shirt, brown web belt, and second bag from Todd’s. Once I’m satisfied with the quality I intend to order a second shirt and gloves from Todd’s for everyday use here. The funny thing is, it will probably go unnoticed for the most past. Looking forward to the Indy shirts once the temp gets up into the 100s here.
Cheers,
W-W
