Should I go with dark brown or medium brown? And should i go with new or predistressed? (I want to distress it myself)

My personal feeling is that, for a distressed LC, the base color should be dark brown. Now, if you ask Magnoli to distress it, you won't really get to do your own, so I think you've answered your own question, there.
