Is this John Penman guy some kind of miracle worker?

I've been going through countless pages in this forum, and every once in a while I happen along a post or a thread where someone shows a hat that has been refurbished by Penman. They all look like new perfect hats. What's the deal? If you have ever had a hat reblocked by him can you please post your pics here? It would be easier to just coalesce them in one spot than having to look through thousands of posts. I know that's a selfish request, but I don't care!

I have to agree. His work looks amazing. I know that my next hat will be a Penman for sure.

Agreed. Since the 'get-go', I've never seen a dud come off the bench of John Penman.

In a couple of months I'm headed back to South Korea where I'll be getting paid enough to afford another hat. Penman will be the one who I order it from. Last time I got an AB with a crystal skull bash, but I just can't resist getting a penman with a SOC bash. _, you're right on target with the granite gray- very tempting!

John, to me, you're all three, and also someone who swoons when he hears an English accent.

I never had the chance to see one up close but I know John has a strong pasison for these hats. and having such a strong pasison, the finished product is always the best of the best of the best!
This I can relate to as I have my own passion. and that is the Grail diary. 15 years long.....
One day I will get a Penman!

Oh yeah, the guy is good.
Scroll through this link, and see what he was able to do with my old beat-up, tapered-up Peters' Bros. a few years back.

Psst hey John, you are that good.

He's the kind of guy that puts a raw felt body, strips of material and leather and some thread into a big pot, stirs it up, and 'presto' out comes a coveted, orphan lid ready to be adopted.

John's got one of my lids at the moment for a re-block, new liner etc.
I'll second what _ said about the stitching - All perfectly spaced and at the same angle, same length -
I'll post shots of my re-block when it's done.

Marc Kitter has really raised the bar for how stitches are placed for me. It really looks like he measures every stitch but he says no. neither do I but it should look that way.

And he can stitch & talk to you at the same time. I was at his shop a few weeks back and he was finishing up some stitching while we chatted & he never missed a beat. I got to handle his work & will soon have one of his "orphan hats" in the next few weeks. The stitching is placed just so that you can't detect it. Even the tack stitches on the ribbon are near invisible. That is some great work you do there John, and bulletproof to boot.
Cheers!

Holy smokes. This is exactly what I want! Luke, can you will me your hat, and then perhaps have some sort of unfortunate accident?
That reverse taper in the back in the profile shot is amazing. Like I said... a miracle worker.
Thanks for all the replies and to the gents with the pics.
