Okay, I don't know if it's my monitor, the background you're using, or both.. but to me it looks like that has some tan in it. Is this more of a warm grey hat, or is it just the backround/my monitor making it look that way?

It might be the leather jacket making the hat look that way. The color of the felt is granite grey and the same felt used for the movie.

Granite gray is indeed a warm gray, or as I like to call it, "earthy gray," which is the sort of gray that can be worn with browns and tans. I own one, and it can look rather tan in some light. But it is very much gray, not tan. Or brown. :[ I think Oak is right, though. The jacket behind it most likely brings out the warmth.

I've had one of John's CS Train Hats almost 2 years now (see avatar) and have worn it with my Charcoal, Navy and Fawn suits and it looks great with all of them. It's due for a cleaning but has held up fantasticly through rain, sun and snow.

Thank you very much for the kind words ol' friend. I was just hoping to make a decent copy to offer my customers to go with the other Indy hats. I'm still patiently waiting my two CS hats from you. I just love the grey hat that you make for the movie. You did a outstanding job as always.

Thanks my friend. Heck, I am just still happy Bernie decided to use the granite gray instead of looking for an off the shelf Oxford Gray fedora. It was a pleasant surprise to get the call from him after the filming of the train scenes, to let me know he used it, and needed one more as a backup for later on when they finished that part of the film on a set. What I did not like much was Indy left his gray travel hat at the malt shop!

See, Indy knew the hat was more than able to take the abuse. Also, Katanga had come to the States by then and worked in that malt shop, so just like Indy's whip and hat that were left on his boat, Katanga would make sure his hat got back to him. :[

My apoligies for not posting sooner, had no acess to a camera or computer till today.

John, words don't describe the feeling it was like when I opened the lid and put in on for the first time and the fit was perfect, I've been playing with the brim to bring it down some, but thats just the shipping that caused it to relax.
the misses was very impressed (as was I).

I'm working still on a close enough train station look, but I took these today, cause if I didn't, well I know which emicon would show up. :-s
Dressed up look.

and for the casual look.

Thanks everyone, I'm realy enjoying this one, it's so differnt from what I usally wear. Brown. That I'll choose colors to go with it, I mean I probably won't wear an Indy style shirt with one, but more along whites, blues and black. This is going to be fun.

And Steve thanks for the high praise on Johns product. Coming from you that means something to me.

Croft

Just added this mention: the beige jacket above isn't to be my travel hat look, it's just a jacket I bought that I thought the hat would go with, see lower down for my final. 8-26-10

Thanks, everyone thought I was rather dashing at the wedding yesterday, funny thing is I didn't know many people there, with the exception of the bride & groom (I work with him), but it took till the end f the reception for someone to approach me and compliment the hat. He said all night, they were saying who's the guy with the nice hat.

And thanks everyone for the nice compliments, the suit does suit me.

It'll be worth it.
And don't worry about what to wear while wering your new CS by Mr. Penman, I've found all kinds of nice combo's. If only every time I was wearing it I took a pic.
Here's one I took quickly, I know, I know I'm wearing a time, but I just got home from work and I liked the look. Yesterday I wore a blue shirt w/some nice grey slacks and my CS travel "shoes" and the same vest, and of course my Penman CS travel hat and I thought it looked sharp, one of the ladys at work compliment on how nice I looked, so there endless options. Love my hat and so won't you.

Grey hats work with a lot more things than one would imagine. :M:

I wear my heavier dark grey AB beaver all winter, and it works with just about anything I wear....but then, I'm at the age I don't CARE if it matches with anything else I'm wearing, so I get away with it.
