US Wings Raiders Jacket label ideas

Mod Edit: As per Sarge's, and a few others' requests, this thread is specifically for design ideas to be tossed around for the creation of the label that will go inside the US Wings Raiders jacket. Sarge said 30 days to throw out ideas, folks. Let's keep the discussion squarely on the rails, the criticism constructive, and check your egos at the door-this is a once in a lifetime opportunity. Treat it with the respect it deserves, handle it all well, and everyone can benefit from it.
Oh...and I'll also bring over the ideas and such from the other thread where this actually began....
High Regards, Sarge!

Here's the original post from the other thread from Sarge:

I believe most fans in the world wants a Nickel zipp for the Raiders jacket.
Thanks Indiana Holt.. The 30th Raiders Indiana Jones Jacket will have a Nickel Zipper per this thread 8-1-10
Now another question.. Guess you can tell we are getting ready to start making the samples!! My next question is.. What does the fans want in the Label ? Keep in mind this Label will be forever! I want all the Fans to design it.. My gift to them!!
They have one month.. 30 days to come up with the Indiana Jones Raiders Label that will be placed inside the Indy Jacket.
Sarge
Enjoy all!

Sgt. Hack,
Here's my quick idea for a label. I used generic fonts I found on the internet, a little PowerPoint magic and made this up.
Additionally you could add whatever company logos and/or flags/banners in the open spaces left.
Here you go:

Sgt. Hack....
THANK YOU once again for another gift for the fans.

But, I am sure that anyone desiging the label is well aware not to violate any trademark or copyright infringements. Me, personally, I would love to see the label to acknowledge both U.S Wings and Neil Cooper on the movie collector editions of all the jackets.
As for the zipper, COW member and moderator "Indiana Holt" stated it best with believing that most fans would prefer the
Nickle zipper.

If he's getting the LFL OK for these and/or licensing why can't he use the film's type fonts?

Just a few questions Sarge. Will the jacket be an officially licensed by then, allowing fans to use movie elements in the design? Or will the label feature the US Wings logo, Cooper, or both? Just trying to sort out what will and won't be allowable.
What you are offering to us is nothing short of incredible!

EDIT: I type too slow, the question has been asked!

I think the label ought to say "Raiders" or even "Raiders of the Lost Ark". It would also be nice to see Neil Cooper's name along with US Wings. Lastly, for me, I would love to see the quote: "It's not the years, it's the mileage." That is one of the best lines in the movie.
For the rest of the jackets, I'd like to see the fans vote on their favorite quote from each movie and have that incorporated into the label.
LC could be, "We named the dog Indiana."
I'll repost if a new thread is started on the label design.

Rick, I thought the same about the addition of Cooper, but wasn't sure where it should go. The quotes are a great idea too; perhaps in the box at the bottom.
Hence why I just threw my idea/design out there so others can add to it.

As far as I am aware of, there has been no annoucement, official or unofficial, stating that the jackets will be officially licensed jackets. So designing jacket labels using the film's fonts with similar "wording" as the title of the movies,
at this time, might not be something to incorporate,
just yet, until it has been determined to be allowed.
I am a not a lawyer, nor am I familar with all the legalities when it comes to trademarks or copyrights. But, just airing on the side of caution for all of our talented members who are probably right now working on a label design as this is being written.
Hopefully, U.S. Wings will receive the official license.

But, I am sure Sgt. Hack and U.S.Wings will make the annoucement, either way, as soon as it is known.
And as COW member and moderator stated, I think a new thread for creating a logo/label should be created.

I'd say use the font associated with the opening credits of the movie, like what's on Croft's shirt here. Just use "RAIDERS" and "created by Neil Cooper" right below it, then the Wing's Wing logo at he bottom all in Black and White. Or have the "RAIDERS by Neil Cooper" (same font) surrounded by the outline of the Wings Logo.

I figure the font is recognizable but not the typical Indy font that's used by everyone, plus it looks a bit more polished, like the jacket.
Does anyone know what the font is called? There are two there, i'd like to work on this idea and post it in a bit. Just PM me if you know what it is. Thanks!

Rick, I totally agree with your idea. Especially the quote.. How fitting that quote is with it being the 30th aniversery.
Tenessee Smith, I love your shirt and I think that font would look great as a label.

I know the whole Lucas film rights........... I'm sure we can't use it!

If the label were done in black and white, I like that title card font (from Croft's shirt) very much. Nice clean design as well.
It has, I believe, been used following the Paramount fade-out in the title sequence of every film except Temple of Doom.

Well...the jury is still out on that one...but, perhaps....
I think we can all preface these types of suggestions as "In the event that Wings is awarded the Lucasfilm license for the jackets, I propose..."
That is, for the label designs that you guys suggest which incorporate the more "sensitive" licensed logo type materials...
I mean...if it's just a hypothetical situation...a big "IF" suggestion...I don't think there will be a problem with it. Of course...if they don't get the license, then you've wasted your time designing a label idea that won't get used...but, you'll probably have fun doing it, so...unless you've got a better way to spend your time...
On the other hand...perhaps a label that doesn't necessarily incorporate it would be cool, too.
Regards!

Personally, I think the design on TS's shirt there would be more easily incorporated into a jacket label...it's straight, clean-lined...classy looking. I tend to think that if we go too much with the original Indy logo for the label that it "might" look too over-commercialized....
Possibly..

So how's this:
Clean, title card fonts used.
A single word title for the type of jacket jacket (based on the movie).
Underneath the by U.S. Wings, Neil Cooper, or whatever else.
Beneath that the other information and/or quote section.

Here's my two cents:
Since this jacket is touted to be the closest that we'll ever come to owning an original Raiders jacket, I think it would be a nice throwback to complete the look by skipping out on a generic 'Indy' label (which IMO cheapens the whole thing), but instead, make the label look similar to what the original prop jackets looked like:
Replacing the above text with something along the lines of:
US WINGS
in Conjunction with Neil Cooper
Original 'Raiders' Jacket
However, still leave a blank space below the text like on the wardrobe labels so that jacket owners can write whatever they want on to the label to 'personalize' their jackets. And for a final nod towards Raiders, maybe have the first line of text be written in the 'Raiders' font which was mentioned above?

I think the less you change the better. Start with the current U.S Wings label. Replace the text of the lower half with the words "The Raiders Jacket by Neil Cooper." The word Raiders in either either the font from TS's shirt, or the swooping color font. Not too big, either.
Simple, tells the tale, but maintains the U.S. Wings visual identity.

Ok now i am confused are we deciding the zipper in this thread ot the new label, which deserves a huge thank you to Stg.?
My vote for zipper nickel and european stlye, of course I am left handed too, it would be finally somthing that is the correct way...BTW i assume that the Neil Cooper Raiders jackets due in Oct. would have this feature correct. Maybe I shouldn't worry about it, because I know that he will make it just like he did back in 1981, but then again maybe I should ask the question because I only get to get this jacket once (agreement with the wife...)
for the label, my gosh such great ideas. i do like the Bermans and Nathans idea.that way it would kind of be like this jacket is from some recently discovered cache of jackets from the movie. Now that would be fun!

Just had a question which I am not sure if has been answered, mentioned or stated. Are all the jackets being made injunction with each movie a limited numbered production run?
If so, maybe a numbering system, such as the late, great Tony Nowak (Rest In Peace) established when he was producing his jackets, can be incorporated into the labels?

Nothing big but, maybe, something small on the corner of the label.

Label ideas look great! I'm partial to the "Berman's & Nathan's" approach. I lean more towards simplicity, but the fave movie quote idea seems cool too!
THanks also for confirming that it will be a nickle zipper!
please to be a 5-gauge!
And many MANY thanks, Sgt. for this outstanding offer!!

To narrow things down a bit more...please re-read the intent of this thread. He's looking for a suggested label for the 30th anniversery Cooper/Wings offering.
JUST that jacket, not one for all 4.
So, keep it to task, and try and concentrate on this first jacket label.
THAT'S the intent of this thread.
Thanks!

I am purist, so I prefer, "Raiders of the Lost Ark" jacket by US Wings....(etc. additional credits) as this was the original title of the movie. Same font as the original title. Other possible verbage, "30th Anniversary Edition, the original pattern." "Cooper/Wings 30th Anniversary Edition using the original pattern".
Raiders of the Lost Ark
jacket
Cooper US Wings
30th Anniversary Edition
The original HERO pattern
alternate:
"Raiders" logo on top of label
silhouette of upper torso & hat (on bottom) with text inside:
Cooper US Wings
30th Anniversary Edition
The original HERO pattern

TS has the right idea. Please use the opening credit font
And PLEASE,PLEASE,PLEASE no number 123 of 800 rubbish,no pictures,no quotes,no silhoettes or to much colour in the label. Just keep it to the move (Raiders),the maker (USwings) and the man (Cooper)
Remember KISS (Keep It Simple Stupid)
This jacket is going to be a class item,it neads a class label.
I don't want the inside of it to end up looking like my 2001 Disney jacket

After looking at the USW logo, it is configured at the top of the label, similiar to what ms had. This logo also incorporates Niel Cooper. Then, in the middle, you could add "Raiders of the Lost Ark" or simply...."Raiders"....opening credit font, then underneath: "30th Anniversary" under that: "The original Hero" or "The Hero pattern". Do you want to go with with openeing credit font for all three lines....?
USW/NC logo tm
Raiders of the Lost Ark, or simply: "Raiders"
30th Anniversary
the Hero jacket
