got my federation IV today, its my size according to every size chart and messurement, however its a little tight. i think if i went up a size it would be too big. do you recomend a hat strecher to give it a little more room? its almost perfect but just slightly too tight.

Try wearing it for a while. If it really is that close it should stretch out and conform to your head after some use.

FedIVs tend to shrink on wearing for a few days (i know both my regular and deluxe have done this). Most people find them slightly big on first trying them on and use the foam strips to enable them to fit better and then when the sweatband shrinks a little they are able to remove some or all of the foam strips for a perfect fit. If yours is tight on first wearing then if and when it shrinks it might make it very uncomfortable for you.
I know nothing about stretching a hat or how much success you would have so someone else would have to give advice there, I just thought i would mention my experiences with my FedIVs.
Maybe contact Hats Direct and ask their advice?

Ive found it easier to make a slightly too big hat fit properly than a slightly too small hat. I hate having my head squeezed.

I recommend an exchange, but an email to hatsdirect couldn't hurt.

Exchange. Also, if you specify to the CS rep., they will find you a hat that measures a half size bigger, depending on your true size. Some sweatbands are not always cut to exactly a 58, or 59 cm etc., but they can find one that best fits you.
If you decide to keep the hat, wetting the band and using the hat retainer overnight will stretch the band, if the hat is not too small. If it is just slightly small, within a half size or less, this will work. Depends on how it fits you.
