It's our United Way drive at work this week. This year it's all about the Roaring 20's--it's the companies 20th year in business. Lot's of people are dressed in vintage-style clothes and I've decided to play along by wearing most of my gear. I've got my hat--I'll wear it home--my Noel Howard Raiders shirt, pants, tie and belt, my trusty Wested, and my newly darkened Aldens. Even with it all on, no one seems to have any idea who I'm emulating--oh well, at least I'm ready if my building is suddenly attacked by Nazis!

Sounds great! I bet you're having a lot of fun wearing it, too, aren't you?

Well... Maybe a little.

Actually, it's interesting how much the clothes look like old miltary wear. With a leather pilot's cap, I'd be almost ready board a B-17 and head across the channel.

People seem to like the detail on the shirt and the way the pants hang--no taper in the legs. You just don't see straight pant legs any more.

I don't see anyone with a camera, but if you pop in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade--available on DVD October 21st from Parmount Pictures--you'll get the idea. :D

Seriously, now that I've assembled the whole outfit AND lost 30 pounds, I'll be getting some good photos take soon. I'll be sure to post them too!

I would have enjoyed seeing the rest of your fellow co-workers dressed in such a way. That would have been awesome.

Every article of clothes I have seem to reflect or be inspired from that era. I wear gear everyday or I would have to go nude. As happy as that would make some of the dames... my wife wouldn't be pleased.

As I get more and more addicted to eBay, I'm seriously considering starting to buy lots of vintage dresses from the 30's/40's, and wearing them to school on a regular basis. Vintage clothes rule.

If there is any way to support those who are alive today that are remaking these fasions, I would like to find a way to support them... such as I have with Ron at Hatsdirect and the Akubra Federation.
