Cabela's colors?

So, I'm strongly considering ordering one of these
Cabela's "close enough" shirts and I just had two quick questions for anyone that's owned them (or other Cabela's gear) before.
The first is, how's the quality? I buy a lot of clothes from LL Bean, largely because of all the clothes I've owned, that's the only brand that has consistently stood up to a lot of wear and tear for me. Is Cabela's comparable?
My other question is, how accurate is the color representation in the pictures? The biggest problem I do have with LL Bean is that the colors usually end up looking, well,
nothing like what they picture on the site. And since I'm more for personalization than screen accuracy, I'm thinking of getting one of those shirts in the "grasslands" color, which looks like a nice pale green. Is that the color I could expect to receive, or should I expect it to be a lot darker/greener/etc once seen in person?

I used to own a Cabela's. It's a neat, durable shirt. Not necessarily super screen accurate, but definitely a good choice for a close enough. When I used that shirt to make a Temple of Doom shirt once I got a Raiders shirt from Wested, I really had to give it the business to get the distressing to take. I couldn't just rip the thing apart, I had to cut it, and stab it with a knife to get the kind of rips I wanted. Now, I don't know if it breathes very well if you get the 65/35 cotton/polyester blend, but the 100% cotton one is the one I got, and it was fine. I do believe "stone" was the color I opted for. I used to have pics of me in the shirt, but I can't find them now. Oh well, it's a solid close enough, IMHO.

Oh, that shirt (the poly blend one, anyway) can take a pounding, and I like it considerably more than LL Bean's safari shirts (thus far). But I'm afraid the only color that looks close at all is Stone. Grassland is NOT pale. It's.. well... light green. It's not an ugly color, by any means, but it is a richer color than the website shows. I've never tried the Desert whats-a-ma-jigger color, though. One day, I shall get one.
If you like pale colors, the "stone blue" is very muted, and almost has a greenish hue to it.

Quick reply from excavating in Israel: I'm getting great use out of my Cabela's stone colored 100% cotton safari shirt here. If you search some of my photos on here, you'll get a good idea how the color compares to my G&B jacket and AB hat.
best wishes,

I've got a grasslands and a stone. I actually wore the grasslands to work yesterday. I'll try to take a picture tonight or tomorrow so you have it to compare.

Wow, I was looking at the 100% cotton, I didn't even realize they had other colors in the blend.
I'm thinking, a stone cotton and a forest blend... not sure though... hmm... would definitely like to see pics of the grassland shirt, riothamus, if it's not too much to ask.

I should point out that their 100% cotton is a little heavy. Like a canvas twill sort of thing. The blend is lighter and thinner.

It was late when I got home last night. I'll try again this afternoon so I can take some inside and outside shots for you.

Oh, and if anybody has a Large or Large Tall Cabelas shirt, either the safari or another of their brand, would you take chest and length measurements for me? I'm trying to decide if I'm a large now. I used to wear the XL Tall but it's BIG on me now.

Oooooh! I like that color. Thank you very much for taking the time to post those!
It'll probably be another week before I can afford to order one, but I'll try to remember to get the measurements you asked for, if no one else posts them.

No problem! I'm looking forward to someone posting the blue as well. And I'd appreciate the measurements!
The regulars are on sale for $15 right now. I almost bought a couple today, but I'm pretty sure I need a long, maybe not thought...

Let me qualify my remarks by saying I'm only the expert of A)My own code and B)My own opinion.
Until my wife tells me otherwise...
And C)This is irrelevant if they changed the poly-blend since I bought my own a few years ago.
I can't wear these shirts in the summer. I can only wear them from winter, spring and autumn. The blend for me holds in the heat and the moisture. I think it's perfect for all other seasons of weather until it reaches above 75 Degrees F. It's the perfect safari shirt for winter, by far.

I have to agree with Randy. I've had my shirt since late 2007 I'd say. I just wore the short sleeve in upper 90 weather and fairly high humidity and wasn't bothered. It's either as good or better than most of my button shirts. Oh, and it is the blend.

Hmm, right now I'm actually interested in getting one or two for some hikes I plan on taking in October. Anyone able to compare the two blends for cooler weather?

I like mine, however I would like it if they were a little less stiff, they dont have that relaxed fit. they are very durable however, i think the true indy shirt is a cotton poplin fabric.

Anybody got a pic of the desert brush color of this shirt they could post? I read one review from a chap on their website that said he was disappointed in the desert brush color. He said it didn't look anything like it does on their website. Thanks

Check out the shirt I'm wearing in most of the photos here:

This is the desert brush color in the Serengeti Safari shirt by Cabela's. I've seen the regular Safari shirt in desert brush in person, and can confirm they're the same color.
Best wishes,
NS

I'm the same way. I've owned other poly blend shirts before and had the same problem, so that's why I decided to go with the all cotton version. Didn't have a problem. I believe the poly blend shirt is also the shirt that Gater gave a nickname to after it caused him some discomfort. Never had this problem with the cotton shirt.

I wish they offered the 100% cotton in the desert brush color. I like this color but worry about the stiffness of the poly blend. After washing and wearing a bit, do the blend shirts ever soften up and get those nice wrinkles like cotton does?
