Picked up some new gear

Hey guys. I was in Springfields, a surplus store near me and I found these great little items:
Incase that interior is a little hard to read, it says: VI at the top then beneath it MAPLE-1941. The name reads S/LT J. Lukin
the full kit. Its the bag, a leather strap and some rivets.
Picked up these white leather parade gloves. They need soaking first since they've never been worn, but once they've been washd. I'll start dirtying them up and distressing them.
Picked up this little pouch from a costume shop. Its a pirate's money pouch that I spraypainted pover the skull. It might work for Lao Che's money bag from Temple
Picked this up at the same time. Another pirate bag, but i'm gonna distress and lighten up to be Indy's sandbag from Raiders.

Those gloves have more value as they are, white military dress leather gloves.
But you own them so do what you want, or buy some work gloves.

I have to agree with RC on this one. My heart sank a little when you said you wanted to take these beautiful parade gloves and essentially ruin them. You'd find work gloves for little money that are far more SA than those, anyhow. I think Todd Costumes even sells some for a good price. Good find on the rest of the gear, though!

I picked them up for £4.99 from a surplus store. They have been used as they have someone's name in them from 1991. It's faded over time, so I can't quite make it out. Somehow, I get the feeling that if they really were valuable, then they'd be worth alot more than £4.99 and be in a better place than a glove bargain bin of other gloves. I could be wrong though.

You did get them for a bargain at that price. They look t be in fine shape, and are fine white leather, not cotton.
They are also used for top end civilian formal dress.
Such gloves are rare and on eBay when such appear often sell at a price much higher than what you paid.
That said, once again they are yours and do what you like with them.

All I've done to them thus far is wash them in warm soapy water before i wore them properly. They told me to do this at the store. When I first tried them on at the store, the inside of the gloves were leaving little white flecks. They also said after I'd washed them and they dried, they'd fit my hands better.

hahahhahah. They've been in a bag for a long while in a clearance bin. So I don't doubt that it had the dead skin cells of the people who'd tried em on in the run up to me buying em. What was in the gloves was a mix of leather and general dirt/debris
