Anyone know how to wrap Indy's Map Room disguise turban?

Bags, Boots, Shirts and all other gear should be discussed here.

Anyone know how to wrap Indy's Map Room disguise turban?

Post by agent5 »

I was wondering if any of you know how to wrap one of these the way Indy did for his disguise? At first it doesn't look too complicated but then I see there are all kinds of tucks and wraps. I know there are several members in various countries so I'm hoping to come across some members who either wear these or something similar in their country or anyone who has worn them before. I just want to make it look exactly like in the film.

agent5, you took the words right out of my mouth! ;) I have been contemplating that very same thought myself. If anyone knows any website that have instructions on how to wrap it, I would like to know too. :D

Guys, guys, guys...

You go here: http://www.daviddfriedman.com/Medieval/ ... Turban.pdf

Sorry, but probably we should have posted the instructions at the main site, the FAQ section. :-)

No, no... I was just razing you guys. Actually after seeing tons of repititious posts, this one was truly unique. I am so surprised it has been asked here or at IndyFan before this time. In fact the only time I remember anything close to this was during the great Jacket wars of 2000. The jacket wars were so brutal , that _ and Lee Keppler weren't going to show up a summit wearing typical gear. I believe Lee was going to wear the Turban and _ the Havitos gear. :-)

You need Adobe Acorbat installed to view the PDF file. Tell me if that doesn't work. I can copy the file and mail it to you.

Yes, Sergei, but how do you tie a turban so there's no taper?

Agent5. Do you have Acrobat Reader? It's a simple pdf file that opened fine for me. If you have reader, maybe something happend in the download, or maybe you just need to update your acrobat. If you still have problems, let me know and maybe I can attach it to an email for you.

The other thing is, on the turban they show there, you wear it on top of your head, for Indy it's on top, and then it comes down to wrap around your face. A bit different. -IJ

It hit me like a brick. I was looking at pics of the turban and all of the sudden it all made perfect sense and I now know how to do it. I'm just waiting for my mother -in-law to bring over some fabric scissors so I can get to cutting what I have. I found the exact material although I'm not 100% on the color. It's like a pearl white but what I figure is that since the NH shirt shows up lighter on screen, the turban is probably a darker color than we think. It looks white bon screen but I think it's probably more of a pearl or tannish white myself. I think a stark white would have looked too bleeched out.
I was quoted an exuberant ammount ($250 or $295) by a costumer who shall remain nameless and all it cost me for the turban material was $10. That's quite a mark-up.
