Found this in an antique store in Vancouver, WA and I thought I'd share a couple pics I snapped with my cameraphone. Pricetag said $35 and the size was "large". If anybody wants it, it's still probably sitting in the store.

Brian

Ah, I remember mine from back in the day. Thought it was the coolest thing on the planet when I got it.

Anything to do with Indy is cool, IMHO. I had one of those hats too, and now my son wears it with his toy whip. It's all about admiration for a great (though fictional) hero.

I'd say take the sticker out and stick it in a higher end hat.

I suppose in it's own right that is now a collectible piece, even though it is what it is.

Bury it in the sand for a thousand years and it becomes priceless!

LOL --
I recall I also had one of those about a zillion years ago. Seeing it here again is very strange!
I remember that the sticker came off and my hair always got stuck in the glue on the inside of the hat..
Great memory.
regards
MARK

then put the AB back on....
not SA to say the least, but a cool piece of memorabilia for sure....which is why i considered taking her home. too bad i didn't have a hat box.

And that's what it is really, a piece of memerobilia. A die-hard gearhead won't consider that 'the' Indy hat to wear while in gear, but it can still suit the purpose of being given as a gift to those who either don't care about accuracy, or don't know any better - and also as a display piece with other Indy memerobila.

I bought one of those new. $29.95 in November of '84. Big money back in the day. I wonder what an Akubra would have cost me back then?

I'd still want one just as a display item in my collection corner.

For a serious Indy collector, one should have at least one example in their collection, that's for sure.

Even back in the day I got the deluxe furfelt version. Stayed away from the regular wool.
