Akubra vs. Todds?
which is better? does the todds hat come lined with white satin?
Re: Akubra vs. Todds?
well, there are lots of positive comments about Akubra being able to take abuse. The Todd's uptowner/downtowner have very little feedback regarding durability, though.

Re: Akubra vs. Todds?
There is a place for both in the forum. Both are good hats. The Fed IV Deluxe's selling point is its hare felt, for durability. The sweatband is also high quality and very comfortable. The Todd's hat that compete's favorably with the Fed. is the Uptowner and according to Todd, they are produced in England. It is also rabbit felt and presents a look that approaches SA.
Both are lined in white satin. Todds is a simple, white liner. The fed.'s liner has a clear plastic piece in the top of the crown, which is a part of the liner. The fed's liner displays its logo on the plastic piece inside the crown. You can leave the liner in the hat or take it out during warmer months.

I've read the Todd's is the perfect 'go to town' dress hat too, where the Akubra brand has always been an outdoorsman hat.
So, get one of each! One for town, and one for the field.
