Another Wested? How to justify...

Post by rick5150 »

I recently posted about having justified my hat collection to my wife by comparing it to her shoe collection  I found a way to justify (sort of) my jacket collection as well...

I recently ordered my 6th Wested - and in fact, it should be here any day now if the 4-week delivery time is still accurate as it has been in the past. Do I really need this many?

 No - so I gave my wife my slightly distressed new authentic lambskin Wested. It had shrunk a bit and was too short-waisted for me, but is perfect for her. Plus it looks way better on her

Now she has a jacket from Peter and I have whittled my collection down a bit without having the jacket leave the house.

Rick, there are professionals out there who can help you with your sickness. But don't feel bad. You aren't the only one. I think it's a very long road to recovery.

If this is the one I saw, she got a heck of a deal!

As I understand these professionals, the first step is recognizing that you have a problem. Then you have to want to be helped. I am in between these steps and like it like that

It is the same one. I appreciate that. That jacket and I have been through a lot together. She says it is going to be her "bad-girl" jacket. I can't help but like the sound of that

How to justify it? You shouldn't try to justify it, like me, I just acknowledge that I do indeed have a problem and I need to conscientiously take note of my actions. That is to own up to it and take responsibility for it.

Enough big talk, now I must confess that I do have more than one leather jacket in my closet. In fact, I have 4 right now including my Wested and I am contemplating on buying yet another. How many do I actually wear? ONE. I wish I can wear more than one, but that just look tacky! LOL! Anyhow, my point is I like to buy an extra one because then I don't have to worry about the present one that I'm wearing... wear and tear as they call it. I can actually put my mind at ease as I'm rubbing it against the wall or spilling stuff on it. I don't know... maybe I'm just crazy. :-k

I own 3 Indy jackets and a brand new A-2 from last spring. I am finding out that more than 2 jackets is overkill. It's hard to rotate jackets with more than two. One often becomes a favorite and gets worn the most. Then another jacket gets designated as the #2 in the rotation. You quickly go back to jacket #1, since you miss it. It's hard. But I rationalized that so far they have little overlap as far as movie, hide type or genre (military). But I do have one overlap; Wested Raiders Goat and FS Chrome Goat. Decisions..... I guess I'll get a G1 and be done with it. :-)

In my opinion, a Wested Leather jacket is like a wife or girlfriend: soft, sweet, and smooth; a beloved companion that will keep you safe and warm through all of your adventures. Like the Austrian way, only better! :-)

My dream is to get a Wested in Kangaroo leather.

Other than the fact its supposedly one of the lightest and toughest, I'm an Aussie so it'd be cool to get an Indy jacket with an Aussie twist.

I like US Wings one, but they don't make them anymore.

Hmmm....Perhaps I could convince Peter
