Where the CS gun came from...

This has probably already been mentioned (I didn't see a post on it, but I'm sure I just missed it) but I came across this article when looking for gun stores here in Kentucky. Has anyone verified this (although it does quote the Lexington Herald-Leader which is a big newspaper here)?

One gun broke during production? What, did someone sit on it? They sure weren't used much.

Thanks for the article. I'll have to swing by the shop next time I'm down that way.

Regards,

Indiana Jeff

LOL :rolling:
For the $1000 they spent on the gun they could have used a resin model for the amount we see of it. I wonder if the 1911 was supposed to be a backup gun for Indy we never see. I am surprised they bought these guns. I would have thought they would have rented them like the other indy gun unless Lucasfilm wanted them for the archives.
Thanks for the article.

I think Lucas is getting more 'post film' savy, as the last rented Indy revolvers sold at auction well after the fact for OODLES of money. The Raiders Stembridge model sold at auction for $65,000!!! By keeping control of the firearms from the get-go closed THAT loophole this time 'round.

Let's face it, sold at face value and without the Indy connection, they'd just sell for what any OTHER firearm of that make and model would go for....but tag ON the Indy/Lucas connection to them, and the price goes through the roof.

So... if I buy a gun and point it at either George or Stephen, then I could sell the gun for a mint, just because of the connection? I KID! I KID!!! :P

Now, Bink, that's a little extreme isn't it? Just bop them on the head with it. :whip:

Ooh! You're right! That way the guns have their DNA bashed into it! We could sell it for even MORE!

Someone mentioned (_ I think) that there were 3 guns used in the production. George, Steven, and Harrison each kept one after production wrapped. Steven I know collects screen used props, George has his in the archives most likely, and i'm surprised Harrison would want the gun as from what I've heard he is antigun.

Steven collects them so he can turn them into walkie-talkies.

Hi all,

We actually have the Colt 1911s mentioned in this article. They were originally considered for use by Ford, but ultimately were used by Dovchenko, Spalko's right-hand man. These were brand new guns that were modified to fire blanks for the film.

There were three Webleys used in the production, as stated above. We provided reference of the Last Crusade pistol for use in matching the new guns when CS was going into production.

That's great info, Brandon! Thanks for posting. And it helps verify that there is an Indy connection in my dark neck of the woods. ;)
