Aldens from 1970s? pics....

Post by IndianaJames »

Wanted to share my newest find, a pair really old Aldens I got off ebay, (probably bidding against some fellow COW members!). The color of the leather is first thing I noticed, its a true brown, no red in it at all. They are in very new condition, the soles arent worn at all, but they do have some creases in the toe of the left boot. The leather was in need of some Pecards also. The faces on the inside of the boot are canvas, and the tongue is padded in what lookes like really thin felt. I think I now have Aldens from every generation, heres a comparison shot. Far left are the oldest....

Whats also interesting is the heel logo inside the boots. Seems Alden changes is every time they switch leathers. I think they might be from around the time Raiders was filmed, anyone know how I can find out? Any comments?

James, that's a great picture. It's a good comparison of the Alden boots evolution. I like the far left one the best... vintage 1970s. You got a very nice buy there and quite a steal for 158 bucks in such a good condition. My second favorite is the newest pair. Nice collection you've got there.

Are all of them different sizes? If you have the time would you mind taking pics of the soles and the insides and perhaps some side angles? I'd appreciate it.

Very nice comparison photo. I think I like the 80's boot the best but that may be b/c it appears the darkest on my monitor. Or, maybe it's b/c I'm a product of the 80's? :)

The inside of my Aldens have the 1980s emblem, but the color is more of the 1970s...could just be my monitor.

 Wow, nice boots. What size may I ask... keep in mind you may have to duck a pair coming at you if you say 8D.

$158 isn't a bad price at all. Now isn't it nice that someone here didn't post the link for everyone to find?

Agreed! While I must admit that I am seething with jealousy :) It is even better to know that someone got such an old pair for such a low price. I like it when that happens! Good find!

James, what's wrong with the heel? In the pic, it looks like a chunk of it is gone.

Yes, Fritz informed me that the boots I have are from his 1980s stock.

Nope. He's old-style in respect that he doesn't operate via the Internet. His phone # is 818-788-9359.

Cool find. I looked in side of mine and I can just make out what you have called "The 70's era" logo which confirms mine are the old brown color. Thanks for posting that.
