Ok, so I was looking at my old WPG MK VII today and noticed something I hadn't seen before:
On the side of the bag without the disk, there is an opening at the bottom of the side inside the little pocket. In other words, if you stick your finger in the pocket on the side, it will go into the bottom of the main compartment of the bag. I don't have my original bags with me so I can't compare this to them, but had anyone else noticed this on either the originals of repros?

Yes. On the original bags, there would be a string in this pocket. This is the string you would wrap around you and wind around the disc on the other side. This would keep the bag close to your chest, as designed. You can see the string on the right.

I have a WPG and an original. Neither has the hole into the main compartment, just the pocket for the string and a hole with a grommet on the outside. Must be a production variation.

Hmm....I suppose so. I just noticed it and thought it seemed odd.
Oh by the way Bink, I did know what the pocket was for, I just didn't know why that space was there on the inside of the pocket. But thanks for the awesome pic!

Sorry, I misunderstood your original question. I looked at my original bag and it doesn't have such a hole. Either it's a production variation as suggested, or my guess is that it's a missed seam.

Yeah I suppose a missed seam would be the most logical explanation. None of the other bags have them, and I can't see any purpose for it being there.
