Good Morning,
I know this is not an Indy jacket, but it looks interesting. Do any of you have any experience with this item?

Any comments or insights would be appreciated.
Thanks,

No direct experience with it, no...but it looks to me to be a clone of one of the Avirex G-2 jackets...exactly like the G-1 but without the muton collar.
I hate it when vendors only post pics of the front of a jacket...need to see the inside AND the back!
Anyway...that would be my guess, as you CAN see just the very top of action pleated back, but given the knit cuffs and waist band, it's GOT to be a G-1-ish jacket....
So....

In the description of the jacket, below the picture, it states there is a bi-swing back
as well as gussets under the arms.
So, yes, the back is like a G-1.

Ah.....thanks, FH...that's what I get for not reading.
I did own one of those Avirex G-2s once....great jacket.
Wears JUST like the G-1...but, again...without the make-your-neck-sweat-like-crazy fur collar.

I have to agree with what you said before. If they would just post some pictures
of at least the back of these expensive jackets, they might sell more when people
could actually see what they are potentially buying.
I like the way US Wings does it. They show pictures of the front, back, some closeups of
the leather, the collar, and all kinds of stuff. It really gives you an idea of what the
jacket really looks like!

Isn't more like the ANJ-3 (I think that was the nomenclature of the short lived jacket that was meant to replace the A-2 and G-1/M422a)
edit: OK I see on USWings site they have a G-2/ANJ-2 which is their own creation, a ANJ-3 less the outer style storm flap. this Orvis copies that.

Love the jacket... hate the price (well, the full price anyway). The fuzzy collar found on most it what has kept me from owning one, and the it seems that examples without are always $400 and above.

Agreed 100% FH!

Exactly! It's the jacket I've been looking for without the wool collar. I'm also interested in the bison hide as I've had good experience with other bison hide products, though nothing this large.
I'm really tempted.

The bison leather products I've owned (a few pairs of work gloves and some HS Trask shoes) have been wonderful performers over the years. They can REALLY take a beating, a coat of pecards, and end up looking practically brand new.
It's probably a really great jacket!

Yep, I'd say it's like the Avirex G-2. Here's mine, for reference, which I got through US Wings on clearance a couple years ago:
The jacket has broken in nicely since I've gotten it. The pics above were just after receiving it. The Orvis looks really nice, though. I like that coulor and texture!
EDIT: I just read one of the reviews on the Orvis site, which pretty much answers the question:
"This is an exceptionally well made leather jacket that appears to be manufactured by Coronado of Mexico. It is made from a fine heavy weight American bison hide that is russet in color. The jacket is similar to the G1 without a mouton collar and is more like the ANJ version of the G1. It has a somewhat blousey cut but the shoulders are cut to fall directly off of the shoulder. Overall, this is a top notch jacket that is on par with Aero, GB and LW."

That's the exact same jacket I had years ago, Bink...and gave to my little brother after I just figured it wasn't going to get much wear time....that's the ONLY thing about living in the South that gets me about jackets..you really only have one good season of wear.
But, it looks great...and that's a lamb you're wearing. I can only imagine the bison would be a much better performer for rugged wear.
Very nice!

Thanks! Yep, it's antique lambskin and has held up nicely. I tend to use this one as my winter leather jacket.

I'm sure know why...that thing has a wonderfully crafted lining that is just as warm as toast in just about any temperature dip....I wore the thing with a T-shirt in sub 30 degree weather and was fine...
One fine jacket for sure!
