New Joe Strain "Whiskey" colored whip

Here's a few shots of it. The whip originally had his signature LoneStar knot on the heel, but I got him to tie a Morgan style knot over top of that, so it'd be bigger, and feel better in my hand. The pictures make it look a bit too reddish. It's a deep, beautiful brown. I really like the color of it, and I'm glad I chose it over the natural tan. I ordered it straight from Joe, because I wanted the special knot and color. It took about a week to get here. He had it in stock, and only had to tie the Morgan style knot over his.

It is perfectly balanced, and cracks beautifully. All 4 seams are straight as an arrow, and the knots are impeccable. It is incredibly stiff, and is just a *bit* heavy.

Inside: It looks kind of reddish here, but that's due to the flash.

Outside: Here you can see how rich looking the "whiskey" brown color is.

It really looks great. I have really been happy with my JS and was more than satisfied with the way Joe gave the knob that "just right" Indy look. Cracks ever so crisply and meets my specs to a "T". Enjoy!Regards,Williamson.

Thanks all of you, but thanks most of all to Joe for making it for me. I really appreciate being able to see Williamson's whip recently. The larger knot really fit my hand better.

This is it for my gear purchases for a good while, so I'm glad I got it while I could :D

Hmmm...that looks familiar! That's an 8-footer, right? Only difference between yours and mine is the length (mine's 6. Oh, and the knot on mine's unmodified.) I'm lovin' it. I know you will too! Congrats.
Regards--Maryon :whip:

Great going Zohar! The knot looks very fabulous. Very Morgan like. Isn't Joe great??? He is a legend in his own time. I just hope his hands hold up.

Zohar,
That whip is beautiful. I just got a stock whip from Joe in Whiskey. I really love it. His LoneStars are great too.

Indiana-sith is correct in his description of Joe. joe is always eager to answer any questions about whip cracking, making etc. Just a top notch guy all around. I actully talked with Joe's mother for around 45 minutes one time when Joe wasn't available. It's easy to see that the apple doesn't fall far from the tree. Anyone who buys a whip from Joe (if cared for properly) has a whip for life.

All the best.

No, it's not a lonestar. It is his Indy-style. When I called him to order, he had one in stock, but it had his Lonestar knot on the heel. I like his Lonestar knot, but I wanted a bigger one tied over it. He said that a lonestar knot won't look right when it's that big, so he tied a Morgan style over his lonestar, as it will do a bigger one easier.

I've been cracking it like crazy now that the weather has cooled off here. It is an awesome whip.

Yes, it came that color new. The whip is only a couple of months old.

The thing about this whiskey color is that in 5 or more years of use, it's going to be much darker than the natural tan. Doesn't bother me a bit. I like the color quite much.

Yes, I figured that. Tell me more about the other whips, please. One looks like a Morgan, if my eyes are correct.

Beautiful collection,
how does the buck-skin bullwhip handle, if you don't mind me asking.

Cheers
