The kind of wallet Indy would use

I ordered one of these the other day. It arrived yesterday. Even though the wallet did not exist back in the '30's the company did. I firmly believe that this may be the last wallet I will ever have to buy, & I am 26.
Thanx!!!

That's a sharp looking wallet Charlie! I've never heard of Filson before (I do live under a rock), but it looks like they make some quality material!
As for wallets that Indy might use, not sure. He does keep a wad of cash in his jacket (Raven Bar scene), and no doubt his passport is on him somewhere.
Way to go for finding a suitable company (age wise)!
I've always been a fan of buying something that will last a LONG time and that is well worth the money spent. I think that Saddleback Leather has some pretty good options that might also serve as a good Indy Wallet.

In fact Charlie, I may be in the same boat as you soon enough. I'd love nothing more than having one wallet for the rest of my life!
Thanks for sharing your wallet news!

I was eyeballing their large bifold wallet a while back (
http://www.saddlebackleather.com/categories/101 ) but decieded against it because I don't like the idea of shoving all the cards that I carry into four pockets. When I think of doing that, it makes me think of this:
My wallet that I just retired was being held together with a couple of pieces of duct tape. It also didn't have room for any pics in it. This new Filson wallet that I now have has twelve pockets for credit cards, & ten are currently in use right now.

So, are you going to artificially distress it, or let is age naturally?

I follow the Michaelson rule when it comes to distressing.

Those are some awesome wallets. The bags look awesome too, but it'd take me two years just to save up enough money to buy one of those brief cases.

Both Filson and Saddleback make great stuff. Neither are cheap, but if you figure you'll most likely never have to replace them (just stay away from Bink!) and odds are you'll be able to hand them down, it takes the edge off the cost.
Regards,
Indiana Jeff

My last wallet lasted 22 years. My daughter recently (3 or 4 years ago?) replaced it with an almost identical one. 'Standard' biker wallets.

I just bought and received a saddleback leather large bifold. We'll see how it goes. So far I like the sturdy construction. And this one looks like it would survive getting run over by cars if I ever leave it on top of my car again!
![Laughing ](./images/smilies/Indy-laugh.gif)
It's hard to beat their warranty. The price was pretty good compared to other high end leather wallets.

Pretty sure Indy would carry a long
travel wallet inside his jacket's mickey pocket - passport and boarding passes, and all card identification all have a pocket as well as leaving your bills flat and pressed. Total convenience and no unsightly back pocket protrusions with one of those.

I agree! No back pocket protrusions for Indy!
BTW What jacket is that in your picture, it looks very nice, good color.
I do agree though, both Filson and Saddleback are very good, very, very good.
Pretty much... I never have cash. I live from a credit card.
A little off topic, but how do you survive without using cash? What if you get thirsty going down the road & stop for a fountain drink? Isn't it cumbersome using a CC for a $1 purchase or a quick burger at the drive thru? I don't know how you do it.

I've traveled the globe with less than $30 in cash. I usually keep about $15-20 in singles for tips. US greenbacks ARE accepted everywhere on this planet. I charge the rest on one card, and it is looked over by the finance minister (wife) before it all gets paid off. Makes tax time much easier as well. Using a credit card works better on exchange rates than getting local currency as well.
Now trips to Vegas...............that's entirely a different story.

I said all this to say I think Indy would be similar. Just get something cheap [probably a pass case/checkbook style] and go on. When it wears out, get a new one.
I doubt it. This is the same man that wears 400 dollar shoes, 300 dollar jackets and 300 dollar hats, custom made pants and shirts......and tears them up on a constant basis....his wallet probably costs 100 dollars at least.....LOL

I only have cash...small problem with my last bank account chargin me 14 overdraft fees and me telling them what to go do with themselves....I find life easier with cash in my hand instead of on a computer screen....

Yeah, but still... that can make ya shudder... not to mention your immune system won't help you pass a drug test if enough stuff gets in your system from money handlin'

Oh yeah, nice find on the wallet, though I'm kinda with Snakewhip on this one...

I got to know the local Secret Service Agent for our area awhile back when the first round of redesigned money was being introduced into circulation. He spent most of his time for awhile going from bank to bank educating the tellers about the new bills just to cut down on all false reports of counterfeits.

I am closing in on 2 years of ownership of this wallet & am very happy with how it is holding up. Besides some scuffs the only wear is some creasing from the lower right corner of where it sits in my left back pocket
