Thought you might like to have a look at my newest creation. It's an 8', 16 plait, kangaroo with 4 plaited bellies. Special thanks to Bernie for the inspiration for this whip. I am currently working on a TOD style which should be done soon. I'll be posting pics of it when it's done.

First, thanks for the compliments. I began making whips 21 years ago with my grandfather when I was 15 years old. He made very crude, cowhide whips (mostly 8 plait) which were made to be used, not showpieces. The majority of these whips were made with greenhide cores and occasionally rawhide.
I have always been involved with leatherwork as a hobby, but not whip making, mostly tooling and carving. Before Halloween, I was trying to put together an Indy costume for my child and came across this site in my search. My interest in whips was rekindled and it took off from there.
I spent lots of time talking to and emailing Bernie Wojcicki and getting up to date on the finer points of whip making above and beyond the work I did with my grandfather. Aside from that, just lots of trial and error, trying out different methods to see what makes the best whip.
