HELLO EVERYBODY I recently placed an order for one of Todd's 8ft whips and I am looking for the end that allows it to crack. The popper is what I believe it is called. Does anybody now where I can get some of these for cheap.

Your new whip should come with one already installed (but it is always a good idea to have some spares on hand).

I second the suggestion of making your own. It is VERY easy to do and quite cheap.
All you need is some nylon thread, a pencil and about 4 minutes of your time.

Check out youtube for instructions. You'll be glad you did.

Not to take business away from Midwestwhips, but making your own is easy and inexpensive. Basically You can pick up a spool of nylon black upholstery thread for a few bucks at Wal-mart, follow my tutorial video here, http://vids.myspace.com/index.cfm?fusea ... ID=5787754 or one of the many other videos out there, Follow the instructions and you’ll have enough poppers to last a long time.

If you crack your whip once in a blue moon...go ahead and buy pre-made poppers. If you are planning to use the whip on a frequent basis, make your own. Buying pre-made is expensive when you look at it. You pay about $1 for each cracker. It takes about 1 minute to make a cracker and that thread is cheap. I use the method that Dan has posted and it works great. I can control the thickness, length, and even make dual colored poppers.

Don't forget the many many other threads (pun intended) around here that address this same topic.

Lol, No worries Dan, I would actually prefer that people make their own. Not only is it less expensive than buying them pre-made, but it is also pretty monotonous for us to make hundreds at a time to keep in stock when we should be making whips, lol. Making 20 or 30 every once in a while isn't too bad though.

We had received quite a few requests to make a video on how to make a popper, so about a month or so ago we put one up on youtube:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EM_mtRvN7xk

It shows how to make it by hand, or with a drill (or in our case a cake mixer, lol). I apologize also for the advertisement in the video, but after all it's a business, so we sort of had to. ;-)

There are quite a few different methods out there, but they are all relatively the same principal.

I have to say that BWB's Video is one of my favorites! Very well done Dan, now get it put up on youtube too!

Hi Allen,

No worries! We had been meaning to do that for a long time, so thanks to those who asked over the past few months, it helped us to push it up on the priorities list.

We also had some requests for a how to make a fall video as well, so we filmed that one on the same day:
