dimensions of wested custom made jacket

Hello,
I am thinking about ordering a wested custom made LC / CS jacket. I already have a wested jacket; it's a standard off the peg raiders version size 40. My problem now, is to choose the right sizes in the wested online blank. My chest size is about
92 /93 centimeters (loose fit). The other s,dimensions I have measured directly from a jacket that fits:
shoulder: around 16.5 cm
sleeve: around 61-62 cm
back: 63.5
So which chest size would you take? Or what did those of you choose who already ordered a custom made wested jacket?Would it make sense to give exactly those measurements above to wested instead of deciding for the numbers in each case. (You can't configure it so exactly with those inch categories they offer)
Would be great, if you could give me some assistance / hints.
Thanks in advance!
Daniel

There are two critical measurements to take note. One would be the sleeves, sometimes measured from the shoulder seam to the end of cuff. This is the measurement Wested uses, though the "proper" sleeve measurement is from the base of the neck/spine to the first nuckle of the thumb. Either way, the cuff should end at the first nuckle of the thumb. The other would be back length, from the bottom of the collar stand to the end of the jacket.
93 cm is about 36.6 inches, so it depends on how you like the jacket to fit. A tighter fit would be a 36 and obviously a loose fit would be a 38.
Another spec that will be useful: underarm gussets.
What type of leather will it be? If it is is thinner leather, like lamb, the rectangular loops should be ordered so that the straps will not pull out of the buckles from tension. With thicker hide, like cow, the D-rings are sufficient.
Keep in mind that if you approach your order with a laundry list of specs., it will increase the price of the custom order depending on the number of things you wish for them to change.
Roll the dice and good luck to you!

@Texan Scott: Thanks for your advise. I already decided for a type of leather: novapelle. My off the peg jacket (horse hide)from wested is as mentioned size 40. It fits. So I am wondering whether to take 40 or 38. I think 38 should also suit and not be too tight.
I think I should send wested an email containing my measurements becuase the online blank doesn't allow very exact measurements.

Hello,
Be careful my friend...
I ordered a wested LC from wested and have a rather big issue:
I received my "custom" novapelle sz 44 (standard 44size).
It was smaller than my of the rack raider goatskin sz 42!
Do not follow wested chart.
Take your measures.
Among them, do not forget :
- the shoulder seam/armpit measure (not too big)
- back AND front length. (i would recommand a front 2" longer than the back).
Because of those, my jacket was not really wearable: I was unable to put my hands in the hand warmers!!!
It is being remake, waiting for it to arrive next week.

If you see my post a few down now on the main page, Wested no longer has novapelle listed
. I'm considering an attempt at calling Peter to find out why.
Good luck with your jacket all the same. I have many of the same questions you do, but no OTR to compare my measurements with.

@jamesdell: What do you mean with OTR? No wested jacket to compare with / to take measures from?
Nobody who solved such a problem in the past or who has anymore hints?

That's exactly what I mean. I've measured some other jackets (none that fit particularly well), and myself a few times. I think I've come up with values that work for me. I'd love to be able to get measured in person, but the jacket will be hard enough on the wallet, let alone a trip to London!!
I hope your quest is working out for you though. I strongly recommend the search feature to help. Some people's pictures don't work anymore, but you can find pictures most hides. There was one recently of a Wested dark brown cowhide that may look similar to the seal brown.
Best of luck
