Close-enough and cheap enough

Haven't been around in awhile but when I stumbled upon this jacket -- at this price -- I thought of the Indy Gear community and had to share. It's a "brushed napa leather" Indy-style jacket from Burk's Bay. From the photos, the leather looks to have a nice weathered look to it:

You can find it for sale on various sites around the web: at Amazon for $320, or from Bargain Outfitters for $145, or, the cheapest I've found, at Clothing4All for just $114!

Note the detailed Garment Measurements (at Clothing4All).

I must stress I have not seen this jacket in person and cannot vouch for its appearance or quality. Nor have I done business with Clothing4All, so I can't vouch for their service either. I've no connection with the makers of this jacket or anyone selling it -- just thought someone here might be interested.

That collar reminds me of Magnoli's LC collar.

That's not half bad looking (needs a coat of pecards though).
I wouldn't buy one unless I could see on in person though....The whole "poly fill" liner makes me think it may be somewhat bulky in person.

Of course - right around 2:30 in the morning at just about any bar - you can hear the terms "close enough and cheap enough" and "That looks good!" paired together... :-k
:rolling: True enough. I remember a few years ago buying a Chaps leather jacket (didn't have the pleated back), and while it was nice, it wasn't quite 'Indy' enough. If anyone orders one of these, I'd love to hear a review.

This jacket reminds me of the 'Lottery' jackets from the Florida and Texas State lotteries.

Not bad, does need a coat of pecards however you would be taking a chance. Isn't Coyle's jacket still $150.00? I don't no if I would take that gamble when you can get something far better than close enough for $150.00

How times have changed... I remember a time when "close enough" meant most (if not all) the details were wrong, but the entire garment "looked" the part. This jacket seems to be a lot closer than "close enough", at least in my meaning of the phrase. Who knows about the quality, but the details looks decent. :-k

Kind regards,
Magnoli

yeah, I kinda think it looks like a CS without snaps.

A CS with big pockets, or a LC without snaps and big pockets.

Similar to the Wings jacket

I wonder if it comes out of the factory that made the lottery jackets?

The pockets kind of remind me of US Wings. That would make a good stunt jacket for some roughing up.

Maybe the closest close-enough I've seen. :P

the more I look at it, the more it looks like another copy of a USWings. I wonder if Sgt Hack is aware of this jacket?

Appears that if it were a Wings knock-off, the back panel would be about an inch left and right side from the shoulder seam, one of the defining characteristics of a Wings jacket.

This was the lottery jacket, another of my 'curiosity got the better of me' purchases.

It's similar to this but not the same, if it is the same factory then they have tweaked the yoke, the back panel, the collar and the stormflap.

None of this matters if they used the same leather. It nasty, nasty stuff.

Here's what is slightly different about it (as opposed to the lottery jacket): Back panel, collar/storm flap allignment, shorter pocket flaps.

Still is very much like a US Wings.

Burks Bay jackets are made in various countries. I've seen some of their stuff, some of their 'Premium' line is made in Canada.

If you go to the Bargain Outfitters link and click on the zoom-able view, you'll see that there is a seam that runs right across the front of the jacket. It's in line with the top of the pockets flaps.

I initially took that for a fold line or something but it could be a seam.

It looks like a fold line to me, but I do remember one "close enough" jacket that was posted here that did have a seam in that same spot so it might actually be a seam.

Follow this link and zoom in....http://www.bargainoutfitters.com/zoom/z ... did=408574

It's definately a seam.

Hadn't noticed that, but yep, that's a seam. Deal breaker! Never mind, Indy fans. Hey, I tried...

The Cabela's version of the Indy jacket had the same seam on the front by pockets. Hmmm...

HAHA! We know that they stole that pic from Wested's website and photoshopped some dudes head on the manaquin from Peter's pic! It's in the Forum somewhere as being discussed

Yeah, I remember reading some bad stuff about that jacket somewhere around here.

The fact that they stole a picture from another manufacture is enough to keep me away.
They must be really embarrased by their product if they can't even show it!

They've done more than photoshop a head.

Is it the company that makes Wested OTR?
