Re: jacket guy on gun questions...
well that stinks. While I am not really interested at all in the weaponry (for that would only lead me to wanting MANY SA guns that I cannot afford and have no real use for), I have very much enjoyed reading your recent threads concerning all things Jacket and Hat.
Re: jacket guy on gun questions...
Everything about the RAIDERS guns would be in the ARCHIVES.

Most everything regarding the Raiders guns (Indy's, anyway) are already known, and have been for a long time. Lee Keppler even got to use one for a photo shoot ages ago.

We did manage to get all that when ScreenUsed had the Baphy or Stembridge gun (I can't remember which one it was off hand).

It was the Stembridge gun Desi had. There are pictures of it on his site. The Raiders guns are also well documented on the main page.

Re: jacket guy on gun questions...
Now all we need is serial numbers from the Last Crusade and Crystal Skull Webley's.
Sadly, that info is nonexistant. I was able to figure out the last 3 of the Crusade
Webley because they were shown on screen. Other than that... nada.

Hi all,
As mentioned, the Last Crusade serial number can be seen on screen. We were able to use that to locate the exact piece at Bapty several years ago.
I can also tell you that 3 Webley's were used in the production of Crystal Skull. One went to Spielberg, one to Ford, and the other we had a few years ago.
Regards,
Brandon

The last 3 numbers of the SN can be seen on the face of the cylinder, just not the first 2.As mentioned, the Last Crusade serial number can be seen on screen.
Unless you can point me at the scene/time stamp showing all 5 numbers. Which I'd
greatly appreciate.
The Serial number on Indy's Webley(s) is/are a 5 digit number because they're a later production
run model. It has a few minor stylistic differences from the earlier versions of the WG. Webley
stamped the full number on the side of the grip frame on the right side. They also
stamped the last 3 numbers of SN on the cylinder face (along with the caliber) and
the small, flat underside of the barrel at the hinge.
Can you tell us who the contract manufacturer was that badged them? It should have been on theI can also tell you that 3 Webley's were used in the production of Crystal Skull. One went to Spielberg,

top spine of the barrel.
Some are badged "P.Webley & Sons XXX England" (I can't recall the town/city offhand...) other
common ones are badged "Army Navy CSL.
I'm sure we'd be interested in knowing the badging on the Crusade Webley as well if
you have record of such a thing from your visit to BAPTY.
Thanks,
Russ

I looked at the PICS on Propstores site and I make out 12873. Don't know if that's what you see? It's hard to tell as the picture is NOT too clear and it's dark in that area.Rook wrote:The last 3 numbers of the SN can be seen on the face of the cylinder, just not the first 2.As mentioned, the Last Crusade serial number can be seen on screen.

Re: jacket guy on gun questions...
To me, the serial number on the Propstore picture looks altered, perhaps in Photoshop.
I may be wrong of course, but that's what it "looks" like.

Re: jacket guy on gun questions...
I completely forgot about the cylinder so went on the Propstore site and saved the PICS and looked at them again. The cylinder pic looks like a 615 for the last three numbers. On the side frame it looks like a 12 for the first two, but i can't be sure as the watermark makes it hard to tell. I'm going to look at the film and see if i can see anything.

Re: jacket guy on gun questions...
The numbers on the cylinder face as seen in the film are 513 (last 3 of the serial) and 476
(which is the caliber, .455/.476).
The .476 seems to be pretty softly stamped, while the 513 is nice and deep. My own
real steel Webley has similar properties with some stamping being deep and crisp,
and others shallow/softer.
Soooo... the actual first two numbers are still a "mystery."
What's also interesting is Long Mountain Gunworks at one time had a Webley WG
listed on their site. They claimed the serial numbers according to BAPTY were
15211... which Isn't correct unless they had more than one live fire weapon
(which is possible of course, just undocumented).
Of course, they also state that the Webley was used in Raiders and TOD... which is also
incorrect.
