Tailoring a Wested ROLA Goat

Just got my Wested ROLA in Goat and am pretty excited! It fits pretty well and the leather is great. It has rectangle rings at the side straps which hold the straps very well.
The one thing that is a problem in the sleeve length...about an inch or so too long. Also, the sleeve opening at the hand seems pretty big.
I am considering having the sleeves shortened and the slower sleeve tapered a bit to close up the opening some...not much, maybe take in an inch or so so they don't look like "BELL BOTTOMS" on my hands.
Anyone else ever thought about doing this or done it?

first of all welcome
second,
wearing the jacket will eventualy shorten the sleeves. they will bunch up. wet them down and push them as far up on the arm as you can. wear it like that until dry and they will be shorter and you get those screen acurrate raiders sleeves.
or you can open the cuffs soak them and rol them in and recuff them. that will shorten the sleeves.

The trick to tailoring a Wested goat is knowing where to measure the goat.

I'm telling you, Holt, you would've solved half your problems if you only measured your goat properly.

Seriously, Whithead, wait to see how much the sleeves on your Wested ride up. I got my first jacket (a Wested goatskin) with the sleeves "exact" length, before I knew that the sleeves would shrink in length. I ended up eventually have to let out the sleeves because of it.

Thanks for the input!...you have convinced me to keep the sleeve length.
What about the "bagginess" at the sleeve opening? Is that just a Wested trait I should just learn to live with?
Also...now that I've had a couple hours to obsess over the jacket...the top of the pleats in the back really stick out when my arms are down...is that the way it should be or will they relax as the coat breaks in?
Thanks for the input so far!!!
(I thought the goat thing was pretty funny)

that depends on how wide the shoulders are made compared to your shoulder width.
if the jacket is wide acrros the shoulders then yes they will allways stick alittle out on the sides. but why worrie about that? it did the same width Indy's jacket.

If your jacket has leather facings, you have a regular Indy jacket. The RoLA pattern is maybe the one you are looking for, it features a slimmer torso, with tapered sleeves.

I got an otr goat almost 2 years ago,but I had the sleeves shortented by a tailor due to I have short arms. If your going to do it take it before you start getting wear in it and the tailor if really experinced takes in for the leather wrinkling up,mine did and it looks great.
