unaligned turn

Borrowing a photo from another thread (thanks, Geert, for making this image available), I thought Id ask a question thats been sorta bothering me for a long while.
Whats with this hat? Its obviously turned, but the pinch has been not realigned to center.
Was this a retake, when they wanted the brim and bow turned but didnt have a prepared hat handy, or perhaps a very early shot, maybe when the hat was put on his head slightly sideways, resulting in the distorted brim, and someone said, hey that brim looks good, lets center the pinch on it to the turn (and other hats, as well)? Or maybe just an accident all around? Or some other reason?
Anyone?

The image is one of agent5's actually. I only cropped it and put the blue arrow in
All credit for the screen-grab should go to him

I think they did this to give the hat a "been in a bar room brawl" look to it. Indy had been scuffling around with that big local fellow. The hat got twisted on his head, but it didn't come off the hero's head. You also see it after Marion shoots the other big guy at the bar, who, by the way, falls like a tree. Que the sound effect. It is the side shot of Indy reacting and smiling and you can see the accented flip of the brim.

As you look at the photo, the left side of the brim looks a lot bigger than the right side. That's quite a dimensional cut!

I always noticed this hat on Ford and thought it looked awkward. Its supposed to for the reasons LLS pointed out. IMO, that is a turned hat that was turned even more to give Indy that disheveled look. It works.

I think it is very simple. The movie is shot down and dirty. So, at some point the hat got put on or moved out of place and it only makes sense to leave because of the scene.
I don't think they cut that hat any different than the others. I don't think much of thought was put into at all.

I think that was really the spirit while doing the movie.
It was more important the action than the hat, that's how I think they chose what to cut or what to leave. And if the hat wasn't right, they just didn't care much while the action was fine. Just my opinion.

I think the cut just looks the way it is because of the angle. And as far as it being misaligned... Probably just the way Ford put it on. I've noticed Indy often has the hat slightly off center. I wear the hat the same way, not on purpose, mind you, it's just how i put on my hat. Every once and a while, especially if I'm in a rush, I put it on quite crooked. Never realize it until I see a reflection.

I agree 100%. Down and dirty all the way.
