Is that extra stitching supposed to be on the pocket...that line of stitch near the outside edge?

I ordered one about a month ago. I don't have much to compare it to. I have a Todd's. The WPG shirt is more of a stone color, vs. the Todd's which seems more yellow/beige. I should have ordered a Tall in my size. The sleeve length seems short, especially after washing. I do not have long arms. I'm a pretty average off the rack size. It is also a bit short in the length compared to my other similar style shirts.
Overall not bad. Off the subject a bit, I've really enjoyed the Cabela's adventure shirts in 100% cotton. Not SA, but a great shirt.

My Duluth shirt is the best adventure shirt I have, very comfortable and thin, but very well made, and a very good deal for the money. Hopefully, they will re-stock for spring and summer.

I personally think that while the WPG may not be the best quality, I think it is the most SA shirt out there. Yes, I mean even against Todd's, Magnoli, Wested, AB's, everyone.
I started with a generic shirt from some person on Ebay: correct details but wrong color and fabric.
THEN I got a Todd's. Right details, right fabric, right feel, but I feel that it was much too yellow.
This pic was taken in Germany. I am standing next to KIM who works for AB. He's wearing his AB shirt. It's nicer than the Todd's no doubt, but I felt they had a very similar color. It's looks good here, but overall, I still contend its too yellow.
THEN I got a Wested shirt. Right details, pretty good fabric, but seemingly a little cheap. And too close to being white, not stone colored enough. By the time I took this photo, I think I had tea-stained it a hair.
THEN I got a Magnoli shirt. Good color, right details, but too NICE. Indy's shirt is supposed get wrinkly and be sort screwed up looking. Magnoli's shirt is like a dress shirt with Indy details.
THEN I got a WPG. At first I had to send it back because the sizing was hard to figure out. But I finally got the right size ( A Tall Medium), I realized I had what I wanted. Good material, good color, good details.

Well to find someone who has pretty much had or been with them all, I'm sold. Now for size. I'm 6'1" 210 lbs. and wear a dress shirt 17 neck, 34/35 sleeves and fitted in most brands from Bon March/Macy's.
What size would you recommend?

I have 4 of Todd's. I really like them and they're extremely comfy. I even bought my dad 2 for his birthday. The color is certainly Khaki as Khaki can be, IMO. They have pen openings in the pockets, but not the full length pen "sleeve." That's a nice touch.

Well, this is where it gets tricky. There sizing is NOT normal as far as I'm concerned, but I found a size that works for ME.
I would start with my size: A Medium Long. (M-L) I am 6', 180 pounds. I know I'm a fair amount smaller than you, but still. I started with a Large and I was swimming in it. The Chest size was WAY too big. The Large or Large Long (L-L) COULD be your size, but its hard to say. You could try calling them and get their opinion. I can't promise you that you'll find a shirt there that fits you. I wasn't sure I'd get one that fit me, but somehow the M-L worked out well. Good luck.

Hey Daren... it looks like I am about 1 inch taller than you and close to the same weight. I also have a hard time figuring out what size I should go with... just about every Indy shirt I have had was a size large. And then I ordered my Azuma LC shirt and it was just a tad too big to fit right. So I swapped with another member to a size medium.
With that said- in terms of jacket sizes I am almost always a 42L. Considering what you said I might be the same size shirt as you... which is nice to know cause I'd rather get the right size in the first place.

I fit well in a suit jacket of 44L (2 or 3 button). I have a 42L that I can just barely button the top button of that 2-button jacket. When it comes to basic button up casual shirts I constantly wear an XL.
Because of this I have a feeling they'll recommend the Large Long size.

I like my WPG shirts as well. As for a summer shirt, not so much. The fabric is sturdy to be sure. So sturdy in fact it breaks needles.
Two things I would change about this shirt though. The first I did change, took it to a tailor and had the sides taken in & tapered like an officers shirt. The way it is built, well it is set up so the bottom of the shirt flared out and appeared to be built by Omar the Tent Maker. Plus they run a tad short for my liking. I prefer a shirt that will stay tucked in. Now that I have had them fitted they don't have all that excess fabric pushing up around the belt line making a mushroom top, but they still are a tad on the short side. In an effort to keep them from shrinking I wash them in cold and let them air dry.
Second is the pleat in the back. Not needed, do away with it.
As far as a field shirt it passes the test. I use mine when out in the field surveying & I go through the underbrush. Holds up well. In colder fall & winter weather it does a fantastic job keeping the warmth.
I'll give it a solid B over all.
Cheers!
Dan

My Medium Tall is basically what it says. TALL. When I initially ordered the Large, it was VERY wide and anything but long; way too big, and there was nothing to tuck in. But the Tall gives me PLENTY of shirt to tuck in, and it fits me quite well. My Large Todd's shirt is too small for me, and it also gives me almost nothing to tuck in.
So it's WPG Medium Tall for me all the way!
I should order another . . . It's my favorite Indy shirt.

Great write up on the shirt comparisons DHW. How does the WPG hold up to a MBA/NH? I have a NH and Magnoli and talk about polar opposites.

Would you say the size-chart on their web-site is, then, the actual measurements of the shirt itself rather than the suggested size you should order based on body-measurements?

That sounds right to me. I guess I could measure and check. Can't do it tonight though. But yeah, I think that may be what's happening there. (I will check it out when I get a chance, I promise!)
I am a 42R, but my M-L has a chest size of "46". Yet it fights a teeny bit on the snug side . . . So? Clearly, they don't mean a shirt built for a man with a size 46 chest, otherwise it would still be too big on me!
No matter what, their measuring system is strange.

Hey guys, out of fairness to Todd, I need to make a correction to this.
My newest Todd's shirt's do have the full length pen pockets. I just didn't notice because one is out of rotation waiting to have a button resewn (i don't have matching thread), and the other was hanging in the closet.

I bought two WPG Indy Shirts in different sizes (XL & XXL) and the didn't work for me. I found the material starchy and hard to soften up. Besides that, the XXL shirt was so big I had to fold in in back and tuck it in or else it felt like a tent. The XL shirt was so short I couldn't even tuck it into my pants. I got rid of both of them and tried a Magnoli. I like the material but the fit was just not right on me so I then went with a Todd's style A shirt. I currently wear the Todd's shirt as it is the closest to the screen and the shirt that fits the best for me.
I think if I want an Indy shirt to be totally perfect (material, color, detail, etc.) I'm going to have to have one made.

Not a problem bud.
The MBA is the same as the Noel Howard. Some shirts like mine have the NH on it and others have the MBA. One in the TOD/LC style can be seen on Ebay that recently sold for the going price these days. Search under his name and you should find it easily. To many it is the definitive shirt for color, cut etc.
I cannot compare that to a WPG shirt either, but I am curious for a less expensive alternative. That or the Todd's.

I'm having the hardest time deciding between a WPG and a Todd's. I had planned on getting a Todd's some time ago, but was a bit strapped for cash so I never did. Still a bit tight, but my birthday's coming up, and my wife's always asking me what I want.
I plan on wearing the shirt to work, so I think aside from SA, the things I'm looking for are fit, feel & fabric. If Todd's is better on those fronts, I could try the "washing with a black sock" thing, if folks still think that that works.
Sizing's always a bit tough...I'm 5'11", 155 lbs, and should probably get myself properly measured---I lost the measurements I took for my Wested jacket about seven years ago. With off-the-rack shirts, mediums (15 1/2 collar, 32-33 sleeves) tend to be a little tight or "athletic fit"
, while larges (16 1/2 collar & 34-35 sleeves) tend to be slightly big, depending on the brand and whether I've worked out recently.
Anyway, any help would be greatly appreciated!

M-Tall might be the way to go in a WPG.
Two differences: color-wise, the Todd's is closer to a yellowish khaki. Whereas the WPG is closer to the color of Stone-khaki. Material: Todd's is slightly thicker than the WPG and more cotton-ish.

Just so everyone knows, since I first posted this response (and ordered my WPG Shirt) it
HAS arrived... and it's actually made a few appearances in other Threads:
I'm wearing it in my
"JONESIN' (HARRISONisms & FORD-ifyin')" Thread (Scrapbook) as well as the
"Fedoraiders SOC Herbert Johnson - Showcase & Review" Thread (The Fedora) and it's on the far right of the photo I posted in the
"Hmmm... I think I See a PATTERN Developing..." Thread (General Gear)
...but it occurs to me that I hadn't actually posted a few shots (yet)
HERE in THIS Thread showing this shirt and telling a little bit about it.
So, here are a few pictures of my
WHAT PRICE GLORY Indiana Jones Shirt that I hope will do just that (and help you to make a more informed decision if you decide to purchase one of these shirts)
Picture below on the LEFT shows color comparison between a number of my "Indy Style" shirts. (From bottom up: Cabela's Safari Series, Magnoli Adventure Shirt, Todd's "Coyle's" Indy Shirt & on top What Price Glory Indiana Jones Shirt)
Picture below on the RIGHT included to show comparison in LENGTH of shirts (WPG is hanging on FAR RIGHT of photo)
As I'd mentioned in one of my other posts, at first, I didn't know quite WHAT to make out of this shirt... I liked the accurate details and GREAT color... but the material confused me. Very "flag-like" feel to it... yet 100% cotton.
But I have to agree with DarenHenryW when he said
"I personally think that while the WPG may not be the best quality, I think it is the most SA shirt out there" ...
It certainly is the most accurate looking shirt that
I own (edging out Todd's "Coyle's" - with equally impressive attention to details - simply because of the difference in
color)...
As Flyderf said
"The WPG shirt is more of a stone color...the Todd's which seems more yellow/beige"
As for the Size (& Length):
Like DHW, I ordered a
Medium Tall - which ended up being a very good fit but with a few (minor) exceptions worth noting:
- When the cuffs of the sleeves are buttoned, they're a little bit more snug than what I'd prefer (ditto when they're rolled up a bit... mine sure won't roll down on their
own, I can guarantee you that!)
- When DHW said that the Tall will give you
"PLENTY of shirt to tuck in" he ain't kidding! There's
a LOT left to insure that even if you "reach for the sky" you're WPG will NOT get yanked up out of your pants (I think the picture I posted above with the shirt untucked amply illustrates this fact... please keep in mind that - like Daren - I'm also an even
6 feet tall and weigh in the
180-185 range.)
All in all, I'd like to go on record as saying that I've really grown to like this shirt...
I actually think it'll be very good for the warm summer months... very lightweight feel, but a really nice look to it.
If you're asking if I'm glad I've added this shirt to my wardrobe, the answer is a definite
YES.

Awesome review, Mitch!
Thanks for all the nods! I'm so glad you like it! I'm gonna add a couple more pics to show that this shirt is great for another reason: it has a magical quality of changing colors! THIS is why I think its so SA! In Mitch's pics, it looks a little green (WHICH INDY'S SHIRT SOMETIMES DOES LET'S NOT FORGET!)
But it can also take on that whitish look, as well as the sandy beige look.
Here are some variegated samples of THE SAME SHIRT!
The first pic has the sandy color, the second the greenish color, and the third the stone . . .
Like I said, the same shirt, just different lighting.
Oh yeah, and I also love this shirt because of the WRINKLES! Todd's shirt definitely does it, but I don't like the fit or color. This shirt for me has the right fit (best I can find anyway!) the right color, and the RIGHT WRINKLES! So many other Indy shirts are too dressy! But not this one! You pull it out of the dryer and its ready to look like you haven't ironed it! YAY!

Great comparison pics, Mitch and Daren. Of all the aspects of my gear that I thought I was completely satisfied with, it was my Adventurebilt shirt. Now, I'm checking my account balance to see if it can squeeze out enough for a WPG shirt
I'd heard about it's extreme bagginess in the past....guess that's not an issue anymore. Good thing I'm the exact same build as you two....Medium tall for me!! Thanks again guys!!

I might occasionally get a few shots taken at me by a few Members here who think I'm a maniac (or an
egomaniac ) for taking too many pictures... but I always like to try and provide as much info/angle/lighting/setting variations
(that time & space will allow for) simply because
it's in the best interest of C.O.W. Members (like me) who're putting together their info

Thanks much guys.
I didn't like these shirts when I first got started with the gear; I kept reading how they fit more like a tent.
Based on these reviews I may have to add this shirt to my birthday list. Alongside the Azuma LC that is presently there.
Oh, and the Todd's I already own. (Which is a great shirt too, but variety is the spice of life.)
If only I knew how addictive is this stuff might become for me when I got started...

Great info/pics, this should help a lot of people making those tough decisions.
How much shorter is the Todd's compared to WPG in overall length?
I have a WPG shirt and also love it, I just never tuck in my shirts (unless I'm in full gear) and the WPG looks a bit odd untucked. I have heard that Todd's is a bit shorter and might look better if I want to wear it untucked for casual wear.

It's made in Pakistan, and I get the impression it is an actual military issue shirt, which is probably what Indy's shirt was supposed to be. My Todd's had a polyester batting inside the cuffs collar and epaulets to make them look starched and fresh, but I felt this was very non SA. This shirt doesn't have that. It has more threads per inch than the Todd's, which I think is more SA, and gives the material a smooth feel which is what I imagine the Raiders shirt felt like. (edit- it doesn't have more threads per inch- I don't know why it feels so different?) Obviously wrinkles great in the vertical pleats. I think it might be slightly darker/greener/heavier than the Raiders shirt, but mine photographed pretty white in direct sunlight today. I'm going to get a couple more. Epaulets are the proper length for Raiders, but they taper from 45mm at the shoulder to 38mm at the button. I didn't think that's SA, but looking at the film, they might have taper. This is a Long.

I have an old work uniform shirt, and the WPG reminds me of it, similiar type material & color.

So, with the restock of the WPG shirts, did they get rid of the pleat in the back?
Cheers!

Just once I'd like to be able to buy a shirt that will fit my 18" neck without the waist being the diameter of a hula hoop.

Thanks for the information on this piece of gear. I literally just used some birthday money and pulled the trigger on this shirt.
Hopefully it'll fit like I measured.
I'll post a follow up once it arrives.

UAE? This shirt ships from the United Arab Emirates? (Lends more credence to the made in Pakistan / Pakistani military shirt comments above.)
Quote as received via email:
"A Dispatch list is attached which tells what has been shipped from UAE Warehouse. Part of your order may ship from US Warehouse, see indication in Dispatch list.
Our Logistics department will send your Tracking number in 2- 3 days.
Thank you and we appreciate your patience."
Is this normal? Not that I mind, I just find it funny the places this stuff comes from...

Tell me about it-- I've been looking at these and my Todd's fits the same way-- a 14.5" neck simply will not do-- And to fit my 15.5" neck, I'd have to get a massive shirt in all other regards. I'm short with a slight frame-- very short and very slim and I just can't ever find anything to fit me. Frustrating.

Thanks Michael.
I'm looking forward to the shirt, and was hoping it would ship from NY or somewhere close.
Getting new gear can be like that, but oh well, I can wait this one out. No problems.

I bought a Large Long and was surprised to find it fits me well with no tailoring required.

Can some give me some input on this?

I got my WPG shirt today. I'm impressed. Ordered on 29 April, shipped from UAE, to my door on 3 May.
This was (for me) a good purchase. The color is great, the shirt is nicely made and I'm really happy I went with the size I did (small).
It
is longer, no doubt about it, but some may need that. Maybe I'll get it hemmed up, maybe not. I will say, if you go commando, you may appreciate the shirt's extra length.
I did a quick and hasty side-by-side with it and my circa 2008 Todd's (M+) shirt to show their differences. It was a rushed job (after dinner and just before dark) so I apologize for the shoddy camera work.
Photos are posted, comments welcome. Enjoy.
