Disney jacket questions
Okay I have a question that's been bugging me about the Disney Indiana Jones jackets. The jacket was sold at the Indiana Jones adventure outpost. Okay so who made the jacket? (Cooper? or U.S. Wings?) Also what kind of leather was it made out of? I know these aren't made any more just been driving me nuts lately trying to find the info! Thanks for your help!
Re: Disney jacket questions
I had one long ago; I actually ordered it back when they were still willing to do mail order. It was an antiqued, mildly distressed thick lambskin (I'm pretty sure) and was made by Cooper. I'm not sure US Wings was involved yet - I don't think so... other folks know the timelines about them better.
It had double D-rings, a large yoke, and was quite heavy with a heavy zipper. Actually, quite a nice jacket, but not my preference in style (I prefer a high yoke and a bit shorter)

Re: Disney jacket questions
My understanding is Cooper made them, but later ones were made 'off shore'
The jacket apparently underwent some slight changes over time as well.
US Wings manufacturing department is what Cooper was. I don't think USWings did any of it's own manufacturing before it took Cooper over, and it was common for Cooper to make jackets for Wings labelled as USWings. Some jackets (not necessarily 'Indy versions) that I've seen actually have both labels.

Re: Disney jacket questions
I have one. I always thought it was made of cow. The strap is reversed as well to the movie jackets I believe. I will agree with Tibor, it is super heavy, but it is more of a winter leather jacket IMO. I picked it up for a decent price, when I needed an Indy jacket quickly for cheap. Mine is a small, and it fits like a medium/large with HUGE arm holes.
Re: Disney jacket questions
Yeah, could have been antiqued cowhide. I think you're right. I was confusing it with an old J. Crew jacket I had back then. And you're right, I remember the big arms and the sizing was pretty huge. Definitely a Cooper. I do remember reading that they changed over time and were sourced elsewhere.

Re: Disney jacket questions
So wait a minute folks, would you say that the Disneyland leather jackets are of good quality? Decent at least? Also, what were their prices, anyone remember? Thanks!

The quality was decent I guess you could say. I never bought one they never had my size. As I can remember the jacket sold for $350-$400.

Re: Disney jacket questions
I have a WDW Indy Jacket, bought in 1994. Realy nice cut, a bit heavy. I suppose is cowhide._ wrote:WHOA!!!
Since signing agreements around LFL franchises (IJ and SW) there have been 7 iterations of Disney jackets. The originals were relabeled Coopers. Following that, Disney had a company in Oceanside "copy" the pattern. Several companys have subcontracted this work, all with slightly different patterns. For a time, a Disney Indiana Jones jacket had snaps on the cuffs, 5-piece sleeves, an outer chest pocket, and slash handwarmers.
Not all Disney jackets are the same.
One consistant error? Since the Oceanside copy all Disney jackets have the side strap setup reversed...
Could be a Cooper? Or Oceanside were already available then? I can't remember wich way the side straps go...
Maybe I can do some photos. I give it to my brother a couple years ago, so I have to ask him for it.
Thanks for your info.
PS: so bad Watergate thread got close, I'm realy interested on yours bluebook new info...
Re: Disney jacket questions
Has anyone done any comparison photos between the Cooper version and the copies?

Re: Disney jacket questions
Sorry for delay.
This is the WDW Indy jacket (1994), my very first. Size LARGE (since new, was to big for me, and still is).
Now in possession of my younger brother, who didn't take care very much...
Is in poor condition, used and abused by me, and recently by my brother.
The lining was changed, and also the zip, years ago.
The bottom of the sleeves were repaired due to an "accident".
I find the cut very nice, but as I said, the leather is to heavy.
As usual, sorry for my bad english.
Regards.-

Re: Disney jacket questions
One of my co-workers has a jacket from WDW. I snapped some photos of it last year. I think he purchased it just after the turn of the millenium but I'll have to ask him to confirm. Interestingly, I did not see any jackets in the store when I visited WDW in January.
The leather is very heavy.
Note the lining. And that it is made in Korea.
