Gear sighting: Indy's bag in a stained glass window

Post by Mark Brody »

The top of the window read "Service of God is service of man". The rest of the window showed a nurse caring for the soldier.

You'll find "Indy's bag" on all sorts of WWII monuments in Canada and Britain as it was standard issue for commonwealth troops. There are a few statues in Vancouver that showcase the bag. It looks like I may have to do a wee bit of photography here now....finally an adventure ;)

I'm not sure where the original window is, but this photo was of a poster of the window in a hospital in Chicago.

My kids were watching the old Disney classic, "Bedknobs and Broomsticks" which is set in Great Britain during WWII, and in the Portobello Road scene there are a ton of MK VII's.

Seeing the Indy bag in the stained glass window reminds me a lot of the last two Doctor Who episodes... :-k

Sorry if it's off topic, but it does..

On a slightly different note, a recent issue of Oxford Today had a photo of a bunch of people in a life drawing class, and by the foot of one man's chair was a Mk VII presumably being used by him in Indy satchel fashion.
