Adjusting Expedition 3 piece side straps

Post by Corvairfan »

I am a bit puzzled on how to physically move the leather in the Expedition side straps. There are the 2 black square rings and there is a silver square ring. It seems like the black rings do nothing but give a path for the belt to go through and the silver locks it down.

But the leather is so tight against the silver ring that I can't figure out how to adjust it.

What am I missing in this? Thanks.

Usually, you just have two black rectangular sliders or rings, standard issue. :-k Any pics? Normally, you just go through the two black rings and over the top of the ring on bottom, then back through the top ring.

No pictures. I wonder if it was an add on piece someone added to hold the strap tighter. The 2 black sliders are still there but sitting on the bottom of it all.

I was looking at Rundquist's photos where he compares it to a US Wings and while both of his sliders appear to be silver there also only appear to be 2 instead of my 3.

I could always use his great photos as a reference and take off this piece. It only concerned me because I have been reading here it might be nice to tweak the straps on occasion.

If you have 3 you should be able to route the strap through and have the end finish pointing back
