Just Got Engaged! And I was wearing my Penman!
So, my girlfriend and I got engaged today. We went for a hike around our town lake. It's about a 3 hour hike. I took her there to propose because that's where we were when we first exchanged "I Love You's".
It's cold out, so I wore my Penman LC. (Sorry no photos taken during the hike). At first I wasn't sure if I should wear it, I wasn't sure if she would think I was being a dork, etc. But she said she was glad I wore it. She said it was "me", and then I realized something: now she will always the love the hat because I was wearing it when I proposed! Now it means something to her.
Well, I hope so at least! Bottom line, I'm engaged, and my classy handmade hat was a part of it! Thanks again, John! And I hope you are enjoying your vacation!

Gongrats!
I was going to wait until my trip to Disney in March to propose in my Indy Gear, but I'm going ahead and doing it Christmas morning.
Now, the question is, will you put the hat on after the ceremony like in Crystal Skull??

Congratulations! Now starts the planning. Enjoy it. And when the wedding comes, make sure to NOT let your photographer pull you out for too long. We only let him take a half hours worth of photos with us outside of the reception and we got to enjoy all of it. Best of luck.

Congratulations Daren! Especially on your engagement, but the lucky helping hat as well. You must wear it with confidence for someone so close to say that it is "you".
Cheers!

Congratulations!
Now planning the wedding can really start.
If I remember correctly from my wedding, it is the futre wife's job to do all the planning, while as the future groom, you job will be to say "Yes, dear." every time she asks you about something...

Now that's a real classy move, simple, sentimenal and all in style with the penman! Your right though, she will always remember the hat with that moment in time. All the best to the two of you and congratulations!

Re: Just Got Engaged! And I was wearing my Penman!
DarenHenryW,
In the immortal words of William Wallace, are you prepared to lose your:
FREEEEDOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!!!!!!?
Just kidding. Just make sure that you always put the lid DOWN.
And that first year of living together will be like bootcamp.
That is because in the first year, you will learn from your new bride that everything your Mother taught you is wrong: how to fold towels, how to pump gas, how to make soup, how to properly put toilet paper on the dispenser, and how to do laundry. Yes, everything dear old Mom taught you is wrong. Oh yes. And the way her Daddy did things was the way that God showed Moses, who then showed her Daddy. There will BE NO DEVIATIONS!
With all joking aside: congratulations, Daren. May you and the future Mrs have many many wonderful years together and may life give you the best!

Thanks, Everyone!
I showed my fiancee all of your comments (man, that's a funny word to be typing or saying!) and she got a kick out of it! She appreciates it and I appreciate all of you! Thanks for letting me share this with you all!
Merry Christmas, everyone!

Never has a truer phrase been spoken. But put your head down and get through it. It is well worth the effort!

Seems like a pretty extreme way to get your significant other to be good with your hat(s), but you do look awfully pleased with each other.
All the best!

Thanks, Josh!
Hard to say, but I would like to get together sometime! I'd love to check out your new nylon whip from Dangerman! How do you like it? Is it a 10 footer?
Plus, I got a bunch of whips for you to check out!
And how's things in general?

Re: Just Got Engaged! And I was wearing my Penman!
Congratulations to the both of you. I wish you both many happy years together.
I keep a handwritten copy of this list of 10 Habits of a Loving Couple, that I found a few years ago. When I listed it for another happily engaged couple on this site, Michaelson added an 11th. I added his to my list so now I have 11 habits to refer to.
Here is the link for the first 10:
http://www.familycorner.com/justforyou/ ... uple.shtml
#11 from Michaelson was:
Never end the day mad or let it end on an angry note.

Re: Just Got Engaged! And I was wearing my Penman!
I only had a chance to take it out once before I left on vacation. It's here with me in Calgary and I've been working it a bit despite the cold and snow. (Side note: the lack of aural feedback due to the sound-absorbing snow is a bit disturbing!) So far, enjoying it, and it's starting to "break in" but the cold doesn't help.DarenHenryW wrote: Hard to say, but I would like to get together sometime! Swing Dancing seems to be popular among COW members. Are you doing East Coast Swing or West Coast Swing?
