I got my J. Crew "Indy" boots today.

They're too big. They're too wide.

It's too bad, 'cause they're really nice boots.

So, if you're ordering a pair, be advised that they run large.

Hmm...still waiting for my pair.

I've been wearing my recently aquired J Crew "Rugged" boots Which look identical to the "Decker" boots from recent threads, except for the leather. The "Rugged" boots do not have a smooth finish, but it isn't suede. I'm not exactly sure what the term would be. They had a zero break-in period and were comfortable from the first time I put them on. I've worn them to work everyday for the last week and a half.

When brand new out of the box they already had the broken in Indy look, which has gotten better since the creases from walking in them have developed. They have the lugg type sole, but that is one feature that drew me to them.

The "Rugged" boots, running at $138, currently are more costly than the "Decker" style, which for $40 on sale can't be beat anywhere. But I liked the ruggedness better. I'm wearing them right now.

According to my UPS link from JCREW, my boots are being delivered this afternoon.

Can anyone add any more to Flash's sizing problems. Does anyone else find that these run big? I want to order a pair or two, but would hate to end up with them too big. Thanks and

I just received mine and they fit fine. I ordered the 10M and they aren't too big at all.

As I posted earlier, my boots are the "Rugged" style, but being the same brand I would immagine the sizing would be similar. Anyway......I wear an 11.5 so this is what I ordered. The boots when worn seem to be about half of a half (a quarter) size longer. This also could vary from boot to boot. It also could vary between the "Rugged" style and the "Decker" style.

Well, what size order doesn't help unless you tell what size you normally where So if you usually get a size 10M, then that would mean the J Crew boots run normal in your size chart. Cooler King ordered his boots a half size larger, and they fit the same, so in his case they run a bit big. Hope this helps

well, I think I may have erred. When the JCrew post was first up, I ordered a pair, with the LAST of my credit card space. But due to a collapsed left arch, I ordered the 10H-M, thinking that the H was a width-thing, and not a 'half-size'. And now I'm expecting a pair of JCrew boots to come next week that are a half-size too big, not returnable, and no money left to order the proper size. D'OH!!!


Maybe I'll get lucky and they'll fit...fingers crossed

Concerning size, I wear a 12 and ordered a 12M at J.Crew and they fit well. Unfortunately, I did not get in on the $40 dollar price...what a steal. I did find that they were very light in terms of cushioning and I added a thin padded insole to the shoe. This not only helped with comfort, but also made them slightly tighter. If you feel the shoes are too big, you might invest in some $2 insoles before giving up on the boots. I have been very happy with them (save the original color).

I did the same thing with the insoles. I got some Dr. Scholl's gel insoles and it was a 110% improvement in comfort.
