Indy Bag placement

Hello
Not sure where to post this so MODS feel free to place this in the "appropriate" forum.

I have a Todd's Mark VII bag and the standard 65" strap. Yesterday I spent hours searching for this but couldn't find anything. I'm having "trouble" adjusting the strap so that the buckle stays around the middle of the chest area and still have the bag low enough. But I can't get that. If I move the buckle to stay at center, the bag rides up my hip and it looks more like a "purse". To get the bag to rest just below my waist / hip, means the buckle ends up to the left of my belly-button...which is way too low.

In other words, where should the bag "rest" / dangle at your side? From pictures I've seen, the top of the bag usually starts where the bottom of the jacket ends...make sense? :? That's IF wearing a jacket. But sometimes I don't wear the jacket.

Now according to most posts, the 65" strap is standard for individuals up to 6' tall. I am 5' 11" so I guess I fall into that bracket. Now I know that people are different shape / height and the "look" fits some more than others but I'd like to be able to adjust the strap so that it not only looks right but feels good too.

Thanks

Solo,

Your strap length should coincide with your height for best buckle/bag placement. To have the buckle in the center of your chest with the bag hanging at your hip as in the films you would need a 71" strap. The missing 6" is what is dropping the buckle too low for you.

Unfortunately lengthening a strap is not cosmetically the best thing to do, but it is possible with a length of leather and some thread or rivets. You may need to sell your current strap in the Bazaar and get another one in your correct size. Or if you see one in the Bazaar or similar you would be fine with anything over 70" as you could cut down to adjust with ease should you find a longer one.
