Well, it looks like my other thread was locked due to disagreements in climate change.

I have my own beliefs on it, but this is no where to discuss that IMO.

To answer Freemason, my jacket is a Wested washed goat ROTLA. I got is back in September and I love it!

And Holt, as or the hat, I thought about trimming the brim, but heard that there's a plastic ring in there to add stiffness and once trimmed, the brim becomes way too floppy. I've already arranged with Santa for a Akubra Fed IV for Christmas.

I'm pretty sure I want the Akubra, unless someone can give me a good argument for a Christies Adventurer instead. (I think the Fed IV is supposed to be more durable).

Thoughts?

Fed IV Deluxe. The non-taperd block shape is easier to work with in terms of getting a Raiders bash. By the way, how's the weather down there?

It's cold here, and today, that condition is not subjective. Nothing like having your thread locked up tight as a tick.

Snowed in Sacramento last night too. It was mostly at night and too bad there wasn't much of an opportunity for pics.

I wouldn't trim your current hat. There is a lot of discussion of the Akubra's and Christies in the hat forum. The Akubra deluxe is probably the better hat although I don't think the Christie is bad.

Did you get any more snow or is it all gone now?

No more snow in Houston, in fact, it's kind of muggy and raining today. If you don't like the weather in Houston, just wait a minute, it'll change!

They're good with the service at hatsdirect.com. Order it that day, and they usually send it that day. It will take less than 10 days for you to receive the hat. Not bad, coming from Aussie.

So, if I've measured my head per the instructions on the Hat's Direct site, and get 57cm, then that's what I should order right? No need to allow for any spacers or brow pads or anything right?

right. the Fed. IV that you will receive will be just slightly larger (than the 57 you may order)in the first place, and with a little wear, it should be just a fit. If you don't have one already, you can buy a hat retainer/stretcher at your local western wear store, and it will help your hat retain its shape, etc (especially if the sweatband gets really moist). I've found it to be invalueable. They also enclose foam tape just in case you may need it, may not, but handy in case you need it.

Agreed, though the other reason was that it was no longer snowing in Houston, so the topic was no longer 'timely'.

Best place for this discussion is in the other sections of the site too, specficially the fedora section. This is wandering all OVER the map now.

Typically, it will get cold and even snow in the weeks just before Christmas, then warm up to 60-70 on Christmas day....

Ok well that is your opinion. JRabbit and myself believe that it WAS snow because that's as close as it gets for us. So why do you have to try and ruin our fun?

Speaking of...it would have made more sense if Travis & Co. and Fannin and Co. had fell back and linked up with Houston's men, becoming a stronger fighting force. Let 'em have that old, burned out church. It would have only been temporary anyway.

Snow? It isn't even winter yet!! Had some snow flurries Saturday morning here in Atlanta. Would have worn my Explorador if I'd gotten called for work that morning.

Well, that, or the fact Travis was under orders from Houston to hold the church until further orders as Houston was building up the army strength, so it wasn't like he had a choice.

A few of us Tennesseean's wandered into the middle of that fracus too, as I recall.

that's pretty good! When you are handed a pitchfork at the door, you know you're in trouble! I think this bunch had rather talk about the weather than hats, and in an Indy forum, I find that rather amusing!

Most everyone gets the dark brown or gray. The heritage fawn is a lighter color, like taupe.

Moonstone. There is a nice one for sale in the Bazaar

Agreed. Moonstone is my favorite color of Fed.
