Fed IV with cowboy boots???

Hello,
This is my first "real" post on here. I was just curious if any one wore cowboy boots with their Fed's. For a little detail I have been wearing cowboy boots and cowboy hats most of my life. I find that I like the Indy style better though for my face type, style, etc (it has nothing to do with me being a gearhead
). That being said I've been meticulous about obtaining a somewhat screen accurate hat. Does anyone think it's "blasphemy" to wear it with anything but Aldens?
Thanks for your time in advance

Wear whatever type of footwear that pleases you. I rarely wear more than one gear piece at a time anyways.

First, welcome to COW. I hope you make this like a second home. Please move your wallet from your back pocket to your front. If you do not, it will be Binked.
I don't own a Federation, but my ABs and Penmans are part of my regular hat rotation. I have worn my Penman Raiders hat with western boots but only to a ranch as I don't think the western style hat suits me very well. I wear my fedoras with just about all my shoes and I don't even own a pair of Aldens. Wear the hat with whatever you'd like. Who says you have to be bound by some sort of conformity?

Thank you, I've been lurking for over a year
just never had anything I could add to any conversations. Yeah I never have been to big on "letting the hat wear you" but didn't know if that would be viewed as going "too far"
Haha on the wallet...My wife is already hating this hobby and it's only been about a year.

Heck, I'm sure the outfits I pair fedoras with would be considered heresy by some! Wear what makes you feel comfortable!

WHAT?! Cowboy boots with a fedora?! Everyone knows that
these are the only REAL shoes to be worn with a fedora:
To echo the above sentiments, wear your hat with whatever you choose. Heck, go barefoot with your hat on, even!
Regards!

I once showed up to a formation in my ACU's and my adventurebilt. I thought it looked awesome.. My squad leader disagreed and had me in the front leaning rest for ten minutes.

I have a rather large collection of cowboy boots (around 20 pair) and I wear them with just about everything, including my Indy hats.

Just me, but I tend to wear a fedora with dress shoes or aldens. To each his own, though. To me the cowboy hat just looks better with the boots, jmo.

Since my fedora is rarely not on my head I have to be willing to wear it with many different shoes, boots and clothes. The only thing I don't wear on my feet when my fedora is on is athletic shoes. If I am wearing my AB, I am comfortable in T-shirts and jeans with a jacket or even a little dressier. I now have a grey travalers hat for more formal occasions. The key is make yourself comfortable and care not what others think of you.
Not caring what others think of you doesn't always work. My 10 year old son was out with his Grandpa yesterday and my son was wearing his fedora and got a comment from a couple that he was adorable.
To him of course this was an insult. No ten year old kid wants to be adorable. He grumbled about it more then once last night. But other than that don't worry what makes others happy. Make yourself happy first.
Live life like Bink. Anyone that sports shoes like that must be very secure.....

Welcome!
I wear my Fed like a baseball cap. (with pretty much anything!) I actually think it looks best paired with a T-shirt, Cargo shorts, and flip flops. Sometimes I'll add the satchel, and I think you end up with a well coordinated look.

No offense to Indy77, but I find very little goes with flip flops, one of my personal pet peeves.
But I say wear your fedora with whatever you like. So far as it's not a dress hat with something like Indy77 suggested, I think it's fair game.
I normally wear my fedoras with boots of some sort. Be it Dr. Martens, Todd's, several pairs of hunting type boots, or most recently cowboy boots.

Just make sure that the boots don't have Teal colored shafts. Wish I had a picture, but saw a guy buying farm diesel at a gas station outside Scotsboro, AL last month: Teal boots with his jeans tucked into them.
Ghastly.

WOW...Thanks for the welcomes/honest opinions...My norm with the Fed is some Red Wing work boots. Now that I know it isn't a crime against humanity the Justins are comin back out of the closet

This thread reminds me, wouldn't a good name for those who frequently post on this forum be the "COWboys?"
Just a little play on words there, but yeah, cowboy boots would be good with any wider brimmed hat, really, even the Akubra Federation IV.

Especially with a more understated boot like some brown ropers, pull-on or lace ups.

Thinking about it, I think remember reading somewhere that Justin pull-on ropers were a favorite among pilots in the South Pacific during WWII. So I say yeah, go for it!

So I guess that means I shouldn't be offended when somebody on the street calls me a COWboy when I have my fedora on...
You're right, we all are COWboys...

This is a personal thing, but I don't wear shorts period... unless I'm vacationing in very hot weather climate regions, like in Hawaii (I was there last summer, but this was before I bought my first fedoras).

I don't wear shorts at all. Its cause I'm built like a hobbit. My short legs don't look right in shorts. I wear pants or jeans where ever I go. I don't think a fedora goes well with shorts but I have seen a picture or two where the looks works. There is one of a member here, Tron, at Disney World with his AB and some shorts. He pulled it off.

I don't wear a Fed IV with shorts... cuz I don't own a Fed IV! Hahaha!
Seriously, though, I wear my hat with brown cargo shorts (which matches the hat, actually). Doesn't look that bad in my opinion. I've seen a member here post pics wearing cargo shorts in his visit to Disneyworld.

Lol, just so everyone gets the joke, "COWboy" with capital "COW" for Club Obi Wan, can refer to members here. I know some of you don't like the cowboy stereotypes associated with some fedoras, I don't much either, but I'm into the cowboy look myself, even thinking about getting an authentic Boss of the Plains Stetson hat in addition to an Akubra Federation IV this Christmas, so I have no problem being called a "COWboy," in the sense that I'm a frequent browser and member of Club Obi Wan. Funny thing is, on another note, I used to think Indiana Jones was a cowboy with the leather jacket and hat... but lol, he's an archaeologist and adventurer active from 1910s to the 1950s.

Well Randy I live in South Florida so there are times in the summer when the temperature crosses the 100 degree mark (with humidity)
and flip flop are pretty nice.
I think a great looking hat can be worn with lots of different things, but in today's fashion they just seem to work with dark brown cargo shorts.
Hmmm I think we need a membership pin that uses COWboys... maybe integrate the fedora, whip, and the Indy style lettering? We could wear them attached to the ribbon of our fedoras!

Not sure if I've worn my AB with shorts/sandals yet, but I did just the other day wear it with a t-shirt, jeans, safari jacket, and my
fivefingers KSO Treks. Not sure if I would again, but who looks at a person's shoes anyway?

We've had folks post photos of themselves in teeshirt, swimming trunks and flip flops wearing their fedora, and nothing seemed 'odd' to me!

I had the exact same outfit yesterday, except my shoes were the regular KSOs.
It's a pretty good trailblazing getup, especially if you want to feel the ground beneath your feet.

Makes me want to buy a pair of Cowboy boots. I used to own a couple of pairs, a long time ago. But around here, with the fedora on, I would be considered a cowboy.
I mean, I could have the jacket, the shirt, the pants, the fedora, with a pair of cowboy boots, and I would not be Indy, but a cowboy. Boots are powerful things!
I guess if one of us gets tired of being chided, with the Indy comments, we could just buy a pair of cowboy boots! You would have them so confused they would not know what to call ya! Fedora

I used to have cowboy boots which were custom made... but alas, the boots were left in my ex's house and I never got it back.

Fedoras and cowboy boots. Sure, why not? Go back to the forties, noir films, and you'll sometimes see men in their fedoras and boots. A healthy contrast. I've worn fedoras with a replica of the Smithsonian Custer fringe jacket. With either boots or Aldens. You don't have to be crazy. But sometimes it helps.
