Just wanted to show off my Vintage 1940's 10x beaver Stetson!

I Picked-up this hat on ebay recently for a bargain price..I re-blocked it on my vintage 40s hat-block and it was bashed Raiders style by my good friend Snapbrim76(much better at the Raiders bash than me!)

I think that may be the stock block. I have one identical to it packed up. Since it was a 10x, and you don't see them on ebay much, I covet it alot. I have a 7x, same block on the hat that I wear from time to time. Fedora

I don't have a before picture but it wasn't much different in shape when I got it,except the brim was wider(3 inch),the sweat was loose and the original bash was pretty well set-in..someone had given it a Raiders'ish bash(even with the turn-but in the wrong direction!!).I did change the ribbon(the original ribbon was red).
This vintage Beaver felt is gorgeous!-so smooth and soft!
I've been lucky enough to pick up some lovely vintage hats on ebay for good price-I look-out for hats that need re-blocking or minor repair work(having a small head-size-55cm-helps to! ).

Being from that era, I bet it's a mercury finish. VERY much sought after!!

GREAT color! Sweet shape! You might want to throw your Winston 360 on your block soon, because I think I'm changing my block shape. It's still a 360 stovepipe, but it starts to taper at 3 1/2 inches. If the lines I see on the Raiders hat are telescope bash lines, even it was a 360 to begin with, it would have picked up permanent taper above 3 1/2 inches after enough time as a telescope. Well, I'll have a hat blocked soon to see if I agree with myself.

Check out this hat on ebay. Not my listing. If someone was a size 7, that looks like a cool hat. Travel gray.

I'm still in awe of this vintage Beaver felt-it's so rich-luxury!
I spent a long time searching for a good block to replace my hat-shaper and I am VERY happy with this one.
I've re-blocked a few hats on it-including my old Fed III-and I am currently re-blocking a vintage Akubra Squatter hat (lovely charcoal grey colour!)..and gathering courage to re-block my AB deluxe!
I'm pretty much done with buying new hats now I have a decent block(and my sewing's improving!).I prefer to pick up old hats and re-block them.The Stetson cost 40.00 GBP(including postage)-less than the price of buying a new Christys!!..and it's lots of fun!

Need to see a photo of your Stetson on ya noggin mate. I was really pleased with the amount of turn and how Raiders it looked when you wear it. Yes it means puttin your mug on COW again!

Holt,I got the block from ebay USA..I was looking for a year before this one came up.
Size 58 is a hard size to find!,I've been looking for this size for a friend of mine,but I'll definately keep an eye open for you to and let you know if I spot one!

Try finding a size 61!

I lucked out and found a size 7 1/2 (60) block a few months back AND it does a great Raiders hat. You just have to look non-stop.
