My "close-enough" bag

Here's a pic of a bag I bought. It's obviously not SA and nowhere near the actual bag Indy used, but it's functional.

I use it to carry my iTouch, PSP, camera, band-aids (dunno when you'll need one, right?), occasional extra clothes for my daughter when we go out, and other small items (via the small front pocket).

As I said, it's not anywhere near SA. I just like it. I plan to change the strap, though... just to make it look a bit more like Indy's bag. I just need to find a good source of leather straps here. Actually, the bag looks easy to convert to a more SA look. Maybe when I've used it more, I'd consider doing that.

I know exactly what you mean. I got an original bag, carried it for quite some time, got used to the idea of carrying my extra stuff in a satchel. Soon I found that the old gas mask bag had gotten to small for my needs, so I retired it. I bought a replica of the US Army 1936 "musette bag," preformed an Indy modification on it and now I sport this:

i like that I can actually use the bag and not just let it be a prop. although I'm sure those with SA bags really use their bags to actually carry stuff.

that's definitely got the Indy vibe. I use a great Gasmask bag sized Fairtrade leather bag that has aged well for daily. the indy bag i made myself and it's just big enough to hang my Indy boots up in!
but having made it myself I scaled it up a tad to fit A4 notepads.

I like that bag, fenris. Is it big enough to hold a laptop computer? That's my #1 complaint about the Indy bag.

You know, i suspect if it hadn't just been convenient for them to get a bag in England while making the movie, a real Indiana Jones bag would be of US source, like the US Musette bag, and maybe even the gas mask bag as used by the US army in the WW1 and up to WW2 era (similar to the British bag).
Not a British Mk VI or Mk VII

A really small notebook might fit... Haven't tried it yet, but i dont think a laptop would be protected enough in it. Being that it has no padding inside.
