Re: Todd's Website
Sorry, I clicked on the Downtowner, not the Uptowner.
Try sending a PM to Puppetboy.

Probably means that it's unavailable at the moment.

Yup... that's what it means. Previously, in another thread somewhere her on COW, Todd (Puppetboy) mentioned that the Uptowner was a short, test run of just 12 hats, and once we here caught wind of them, they went quickly. They have not been in stock since, which has been for a couple of weeks. The Downtowner, however is a FINE hat for the money, and will serve you well, if a new lid is what you seek. Got mine just two days ago.VP wrote:Probably means that it's unavailable at the moment.

Re: Todd's Website
So what is the difference between the Uptowner and Downtowner? Are either of them associated with a particular movie or scene?

Re: Todd's Website
well the uptowner is a softer hat a little bit easier to shape the brim in whatever particular shape that you want, where the downtowner is a stiff hat and is shaped for you and looks like the "streets of cairo" look . here are some pics side byside of the two hats
the uptowner is on the left and the downtowner is on the right

Re: Todd's Website
the uptowner seems nice but the downtowner...look at that brim! so stiff it won't flatten stiffer than a DP, I'd say
Re: Todd's Website
I am thinking about ordering the downtowner but I have a question about the size. I were a size 59 and that size comes from Akubra Fed. so should I get a size 59 from Todd?

But how does it compare to an Akubra or a PB Custom?Restless Dreamer wrote:the uptowner seems nice but the downtowner...look at that brim! so stiff it won't flatten stiffer than a DP, I'd say
Re: Todd's Website
It's a moot point anyhoo...
Just got an e-mail back, and they don't carry 7 3/4 size

Re: Todd's Website
Have you tried shopping for a hat in a retail store, such as a western wear place for a cowboy hat, for example? Hat sizing is so far off of your actual measurement. Some hats from one line fit me in 7 3/8, while some were too small or too large. Since hat sizing is so inconsistent, try using your actual measurement in inches or centimeters.
Re: Todd's Website
Nah, I'll just stick with Akubra.....they do up to my size...
(IMHO, I can't help but think it's a little bit silly that the Indy Hat section of Todd's website says up to Euro 64, and yet they only carry up to 61........)

Re: Todd's Website
that's what it is. when an item is not "in stock" they pull it off the website. when they are back in stock, they'll be listed again.indyclone wrote:i think they do carry it up to but when hats sells out they take the size off the chart to let people know whats left in stock
Re: Todd's Website
This is a direct quote from the e-mail...
"No, I’m sorry, we only carry them up to size 61."
That's pretty clear to me that they don't carry anything bigger than a 61.
